If you decide to paint it, don't try to duplicate the old look - make it into your own - it's a Kustom, it's yours, feel free to change it around as you wish. I'd have Winfield paint it orange and change the top to white.

 

Man, I hope this car comes to Syracuse this summer. I'd love to see it in person!

The car must have made a few rounds in its past heyday,,It was owned by Van Scully here in Longview,Texas for a while during the early 2000s,,,,dont have ant idea where it went when Van passed away...

8 or 9 years ago and brought it to Michigan

 

I agree with not painting the car but, there is a couple of spots that should be repaired and would like to find a local painter to see what could be done.
I just know there's a slim to no chance of spotting in a candy color
Minor stone chips, scratches etc don't bother dad because the car will be driven.

 

Those hub caps are intense!

I bet if you bought an airbrush gun and the correct paint formula, you could do it yourself.

Wolfman1 try contacting Bill Denny who posts on the HAMB as "superplus". Bill had a shop in St. Thomas and while I believe he has "retired" he may be able to point you in the right direction. Bill is a hot rodder, drag racer and soon to be supermodified racer.

Paint? I'd paint it in a heartbeat. As it sits now, it looks like a great original period car that has had a recent refurb by someone with a more "modern" taste in paint. The color kind of has you looking for the "ghost flames". I would change the paint to something more period correct, and change the top to white. But, I also love to spend other people's money. (Gold....white top...white interior...ummm)

I agree with the repainting sentiment. A different colour though. While you're at it, some new caps and tyres would be nice too...the ones in the pic are just a little goofy. Good luck with your search for a good painter.

 

Very Sly Ride Indeed!! Don't paint it, ...Drive It! It's still a drop dead eye catcher, until such time as it actually begins to look a bit tatty, it's what I'd call patina, just shows it's been used, ...like it should be!

 

I'll post pics of the bad spot tomorrow, going to pick it up this afternoon.
Hoping we don't have too much hastle at the border
There's a couple of scatches an inch or so long, I talked with my dad a think
he's just going to pinstripe over them, they're close to some of the original striping

 

Here's the picture of the crack in the paint, it was hard to get a good picture
