Customs Is this rad '57 Kustom Buick van real or shopped?

the roof ,winshield and side glass profile looks a lot like a 1957 or 58 cadillac!

Maybe not a photoshop, this is done pretty regularly in Malta. The buses there are privately owned by individuals but run city routes, thus each bus owner can modify their bus however they see fit, it is still that way today and is actually a tourist attraction for the area. It could be a rebodied rebodied Bedford. Here's another made from a pontiac.....

 

The Maltese buses, wow. There was an article in Road & Track a few years ago. It said in Malta, the bus operators buy imported chassis, usually English Bedford, and have the bodies made locally. The bodies are made by small shops with 3 or 4 employees who design them and make the whole thing by hand. American cars from the fifties are a favorite inspiration.

Looking closer at your details, the LEFT quarter window (seen through the inside) is over a foot longer than the right one (facing the viewer). Another dead giveaway.
Still badass though.

 

Those maltese dude do some top notch kustom work on those busses. Theres a new government transportation reform of some kind trying to get them off the road though. Just like in this country, governments and cool cars just don't mix.

 

Never heard ofthe maltese buses. Pretty cool, ill go investigate.

 

i say photoshoped too. the four holes in the hood don't seem to follow the contures of the hood right. they look like their in a straight line, but the hood has quite a bit of curve to it. the shadowing over the tires looks air brushed or something. it's fun to look at though.

Stoked to see this is still alive. I really hope one of you builds it. This van deserves to exist beyond a computer screen
