My son, Douglas, with our '55 before it was ours at the swap meet. Untouched and full of patina....esp. the rockers/rear inner wheel wells!

  6. WHOOO, so I burned bridges huh? Don't try so hard man. You'll just be frustrated with yourself for expending so much energy. Not everybody has to like his car. Not everybody has to like mine. And I really don't care who does.
    P.S. I don't have a 327. Not now, not ever.

    This how patina is made.

I bought this hardtop in 1976.

A little spiffing the original paint and some wide whites.

Here is my Gasser find from last fall. 55 2dr sedan with radiused wheel wells and straight axle with drum brakes. Had a Buick 350 and turbo 350 trans. After working on it all winter I have all of the issues from previous owners worked out and a 327 and M21 muncie in it. Cant wait to drive it this spring in well worn paint.

This is reason I like to keep my '55 in its original Casmere blue patina.... so you can drive it and not worry about it ,Took the old double nickel out for a nice 20 mile cruise last night and banged some gears in the 4spd-Muncie which is hell of alot better than having it torn apart in a million pieces or block sanding for days.

I love that car. Hard to believe it was a four door, one of the best transformations ever, especially because it's finished and has some miles on it now. That one would lose a lot of coolness if it was repainted, just like a lot of the other ones posted in this thread.

Cool thread. Awesome cars. Just bought a 57 belair, black, white top, original red interior with clear plastic over it. 66,000 original little old lady miles. It's like a time capsule. It's a 6 cylinder. I bought a 327 300 horse vette motor with the car. Kinda hate to do it because it is so nice the way it is but......I have always wanted a bad ass 57. I will try and post pics later.
