Are there some station wagon makes and/or models that only had four doors? As in exclusively four doors. Or, though seemingly less likely, exclusively two doors? Make sense? Know what I mean, Vern?
I believe 50's Chrysler and Desoto were only available as 4 doors, where Dodge and Plymouth sold 2 and 4 doors.
1959 Edsel Villagers only came 4 door, but the same body in Ford came 2dr and Ranchero. Ironicly, in 1958 one of the most desirable Edsels is a 2dr wagon, called a Burmuda.
58 Edsel 2dr was a roundup 57 Ford ranch wagon was 2 dr only, del rio 2 dr only 58 Ford ranch wagon was 2 dr or 4 dr, country sedan and country squire were 4 dr only, del rio 2 dr only 58 chevy yeomen was 2 dr or 4 dr, all other models 4 dr
Thunderocket, the Bermuda Edsel wagons were four door only, it is the faux wood exterior. Edsel did some tu-door wagons however, not sure of the years. Ford did some tudor wagons up untill approx 62. Studebaker only made tudor wagons I think 55-57, then some fourdoors later. Google is your friend on stats like this! Here is my baby, Rusty the Ranchwagon, currently in sick bay getting a heart transplant 302/AOD tranny, so the ol girl can haul the baggage to shows for The South Omaha Turds automotive brotherhood!
Yep, thanks for catching that......Roundup. No Roundup in '59 though. I thought about building one out of my Villager, after driving that '59 Tudor Ranch to Viva. I sure like the hell hole behind the seat. We fit 2 weeks of gear in there.
Ford Falcon from 60-65 had 2 ad 4 drs. 2drs. some what rare. And also 2dr sedan delivery. GO here; http://public.fotki.com/falconeer
Most full-size 1960s wagons were 4-door only. (Yes, I know there are exceptions, but they are not the rule and some of those exceptions are extremely rare.)
Gregk, I drive a 4dr 58 Ranch Wagon so I field the question quite a bit, wasn't trying to jump you, just correct you. 2 doors are an odd duck, especially by the late 50's they were typically only offered on the cheapest trim level, if at all. By 1958 Chevy considered the Nomad the top of the line wagon, so it could no longer be a 2 dr and was only offered as a 4 dr.
Studebaker started building 2 door wagons in 1954 and did not offer a 4 door wagon until 1957. They produced both 2 and 4 door wagons through 1961 and starting in 1962 to the end only offered 4 door wagons. All Corvair wagons were 4 doors. And speaking of Ford 2 door wagons, 1956 was the only year with a fancy 2 door wagon, Fords "answer" to the Nomad, the Parklane.
Vast majority of wagons came as 4 doors. some of the 4 door models were available as 2 doors (in the 50's mainly) and the 64/65 chevelle. 49-51 ford woodies are about the only 2 dr only models I can think of off the top of my head
Should have been more specific, the Parklane was the only 2 door wagon that had similar interior and exterior trim as the Fairlane Victoria, where the Del Rio was similar to the Custom Ranch Wagon of earlier years.
