Looks awesome, get out and drive the crap out of it!

  2. I agree and nothing looks better on an undropped bar then a set of Guide 903-J's.

I kept my pickup bar stock for the same "50's dorky" reason.

Wow! What a sweet ride! But for just a moment you caused me to rethink my project. That looks sooo good. My '32 was a fendered car in the '60's when I actually drove it and I've decided to remake it now as a fenderless ride - but... for just a fleeting moment... OK, I've recovered, back to fenderless. When I'm back in the PacNW I'd love to come see it and drool...

Hell yeah, Chris. A lot of folks that "have spent years perfecting the traditional look" may disagree but I like it. Your truck looks great.

BTW: That's a crap load of rims.

  15. Looks fantastic Rolf. If I may ask, how is the hood top fastened?

  16. An excellent finish.
Everything is good on the eye. Proportions are right on.
    Dig the full fenders..

Sure, I made these spring loaded rods using the existing hinge tubing on the hood:

Matt, it has the stock front cross member. Chassis Engineering reverse eye spring pack with a couple of leafs removed. The rear has a '40 cross member with a '40 spring and a couple of leafs removed as well.

Tires are 5:50 in front and 7:00 in rear.

    real nice 5winder

  24. Thanks for confirming the engineering I had going on in my head! I am working on a similar setup and you just took all the guess work out of it for me. Awesome!

  25. Thanks Rolf! Everyone has different taste, if we all liked the same thing we would all drive the same flippin car ;) Like the stock bar or not, that purple 5W is as close to 50's perfect as it gets. I absolutely love some of the "awkward" placement or style of parts one a lot of 50's builds.

Indeed, that's sometimes how you can spot a real survivor as opposed to a "perfect" period build. It would be a shame to "correct" it.

I feel the same way! There's a lot of things that could be changed on old hot rods from a design standpoint but they'd lose so much in doing so. It's the little nuances that make then old cars so damn cool!
