Just got word that Jot Horne passed away last Sunday at 87. He was very active in the 40's and 50's with Hot Rods, Dry Lakes, Bonneville and Indy car racing. Jot worked many years for Bell Auto Parts and owned a small aluminum foundry where he produced Horne intake manifolds, gas pedals. Jot will be missed by all who knew him. Another WWII Hero and a true Hot Rod pioneer gone ........REST IN PEACE.....JH
His intakes are awesome and hard to find. They were limited in number and only made for a few motors.
Rip He also came up with the cragar 5 spoke, he played a big role in the industry, we probably only have a partial idea of what he did.
Sympathy goes out to Family and Friends. hopefully tales of his life will be put in print to share with us. Horne is a unique last name spelling. have a old school friend in SoCal with same spelling.
Rest in Peace Jot. I recently acquired a Horne intake, a 4x2 for a Chrysler hemi. I actually emailed Jot about it shortly after I got it, but unfortunately never heard back from him, presumably due to his health. A true pioneer in the hot rodding community, he did some pretty amazing work in his time.
I worked with Jot at both Bell Auto Parts when I was a kid, and he worked for me at Dick Cepek. No story about Jot would be complete if it did not include his complete love and devotion to Christ. He was a hero to me in many ways. Enjoy your reward Jot.
