You want to have an anti-viva show? Good luck. And at the Palms of all places? The Palms... where Britney Spears and Carson Daly hang out? AND you think $20 is too much to pay? Do you think the Palms is going to let a bunch of loud ass hot rods on their lot terrorizing the kids from Rodeo Drive for FREE?

Yeah, and right afterwards you can look for the HAMB post picking it apart no matter how good it was. And who let those primered VWs in anyway?

    Hahaha Kilroy, you're killing me.

How hard is it to grasp that Viva is a rockabilly event that happens to have a car show and it's attendees are going to get preferred treatment? I don't know how else for it to be explained... Kilroy is far more eloquent than I...

Anybody who is bitching about a $20 gate fee, and even add to that another $50 for a VLV pass for the bands and all....has OBVIOUSLY never been to Lead East.

Lead is like $90 just to register your car, plus you lodging in the Hilton, plus outrageously overpriced food vendors. Am I complaining about how expensive Lead East is? Yes. I think it's a bit excessive to drop $350+ on a car show weekend. But $70 with cool bands?...if these rat rod motherfuckers would buy less PBR, they could probably come up with the bread.

My goodness.... this is just madness!!

May I add a bit to those who are just a little slow in understanding the issues????

As far as early parking goes.....besides the fact that the show isn't until saturday.. and the parking until that time is for CUSTOMERS of the hotel and parking for VLV attendees....

there is the issue of parking lot security....
Wouldn't you rather have your car parked SECURELY for the day, knowing that no one will have the opportunity to STEAL it, vandalize (intentionally or just out of a drunken stupor)? The cost for security for Thursday through Sunday would just be outrageous! You gonna fork over the extra dough for it?

Have you ever attended VLV? Last year there were soo many issues with those with less than shit for brains hanging out around the cars that were parked... a lot of these "people" were drunk/drugged up or just idiots! They were doing stupid things and causing excessive noise/problems and damage to the hotel property as well as some of the cars. How would you like to come out to find some asshole had put a scratch in your paint job???
I don't care how much (or little) it costs.. that's gonna piss someone off! I'd be looking to put someone's head on a platter for that.. and that is just minor shit that happened!

As for the $5 walk in fee..... see the explanation above!

I think Axle and the guys are just doing their damnedest to make sure the show still continues... to keep the cars safe... to keep the crowds safe..
and to keep the State of Nevada, the City of Las Vegas, and the owners of The Gold Coast Casino's placated so that the tradition of the car show can continue to be included with the music weekender!

  10. Axle - I didn't know you vacationed in East LA? Man next time you want to get away let me know and you can crash at my pad....

As far as VLV goes I think it is pretty clear that based and the asshats and their bullshit from last year that the venue has some concerns about the car show. I heard of no problems with the actual event other than the morons in the parking structure. if this event is going to continue there has to be a way to curb that crap. one way is to limit the people "parking" their cars all weekend at the car show. the other is to hire/recruit more security.

I for one think that Axle is being reasonable in order to keep this show going...It may not have started out being about the car show but the car show is a big draw. That being what it is there needs to be a way ensure that not only does the VLV keep going but that the car show keeps growing.

Making money does not seem to ever be an issue, what seems to be an issue is when they get in. if you want to get your car in early its gonna cost extra money. If Axle and the Shifters make money off that I am 100% behind it, I don't know too many people that will throw away money coming to them.

Anyone who does not agree with this ultimately has all the power in the wolrd. you don't gotta go. Stay away. if enough people don't show up or don't pay then the show will have to change again to atract those people back (or go away).

By the way the Palms ain't going to go for "our kind" at their place. maybe borderline but not the plams.

I can't believe that this is such an issue for some people.Nothing is free, especially in Vegas. We should all be thankful that there is a show at all. Immediately following the show this year, there was talk of not having the show again, ever.

Bottom line is...If you don't wanna pay, don't go.

Hey axle, how about you just charge an extra fifty bucks for people to park on thursday?

    Welcome to fucking Drama Week...

The way I understand it, Axle announced how the next VLV was going to be if there was going to be one at all.
If there is any voting to be done on the subject, do so by attending or staying away.

BTW, I'm buying a new chinchilla pimp coat with the money I made off of our show, bitch about that!

Put a nickle in a piggy bank everyday... when viva gets here take your piggy bank and bust it open.. wrap all the shinny nickles up and take them to the bank to get a crisp $20 bill

I agree that axle stated how it is going to be and the only voting would be to go or not.

But then why is he posting it on here, this is a place to discuss things car related. So since he has it is up for
dicussion. I have put on carshows and help with them as well.

I have gone to vlv for a few years, driving 11-15 hrs. each way.

I enjoy seeing the cars and visiting friends from other
places who meet up there. Some times we buy the pass
some times it is enough fun to go with out the upstairs
    music.

Honestly, I don't enjoy all the vendors, who are paying for at least some of the cost of putting on the show.
And bringing people who are shopping for shit. If you are not making enough money from them, then charge them more, or don't have them.

I also think that the cost of the portable outhouses shouldn't be your cost. Don't have them, there are bathroons in the casino, who said you have to be able to
go to the bathroom in the parking lot.

I would pay $20 to register for a car show but I don't agree with making walk ins pay. This is not a fairgrounds or race track, it is the casino parking lot. Are you paying to use the parking lot?

I honestly would be glad if there is NO CARSHOW!

Then it would just be the same people who drive there cars
to the event in the parking lot. Just like it started.
We don't need awards or music or your announcements.

Guess what, the parking lot is for customers of the casino.
And if I am a customer, I'll be in the parking lot. Along with all the other customers, maybe we will park next to each other, maybe there will be a modern car next to me.

I really don't care enough for you to go through all your
hard work just so there are venders and awards and shitters, and the stars of american graffiti, and what ever
    else you provide.

Please let your car show die, what would be the result.

Do you really think the cars would not come?

Is the casino going to not let there customers drive old cars? I could be wrong, but I doubt it.

I don't know axle or any of the shifters except Squeek Bell, who was a great guy and helped me on my way to vegas. I don't have anything personal against any of you guys, that is not the point.

Like I said Please Don't have your "Car Show" and just let the people drive there cars and the people who are at the music show, and anyone else at the casino can look at them. All for FREE and you won't have any head aches and maybe you would have more fun. I understand it is hard work, I've done it. So give your self a brake and let it go on
    with out you.

I think Redbeard had the best non-biased reply yet. He's right, if it's SUCH a hassle, drop it. The cars will come, the people will come and those who wish to profit will profit. In the end, it will never change so why bother will all this horse shit?

I still have my Topps baseball cards!!:D

i'm a complete idiot...in '87, i went to graceland for the tenth anniversary, and got me some Elvis trading cards. unfortunately, the gum (as well as the cards) were leftovers from '77. i assure you, 10 year-old trading card gum will leave you with a horrific after-taste, just like a 'devils' VLV post...
