Is there such a thing as a cool Desoto?

Thanks, I am really glad to have them both.
Before the UTE I had a 57 Adventurer ragtop, however since it needed full restoration that I could not afford, I sold it. It is now getting that restoration in Italy. The UTE is a much more utilitarian vehicle that will make for a much easier and affordable restoration while still being very unique. I just need to quit messing with the JR cars and get on it.

Those headlight eyebrows are VERY 1950. They go with the Fulton sun visor. Now where are the curb feelers?

No curb feelers but I do have an extra accessory:

And I have a Unity follow spot laying around, didn't dare to drill holes (yet) though...

I do agree with jimi that the '59 blinkers are cheesy but the look already grew on me. I really detest '59 rear lights on almost all cheap and badly made 'kustoms' you see more and more but one rarely sees these things as front blinkers so I set aside my principles a bit ;)

As to why I think a 1950 DeSoto is really cool: It's the big grin, the custom looking rear lights and the slanted B-pillar. And... The brand name is very close to my surname so I really had to own one.

My number one dream car is a 1949 Buick Sedanette (although I've been a MoPar driver since my first own car and I really LOVE Mopars) and their grilles do resemble one another.

The only thing not so cool is the height of the roof, I must admit, but I'm not rich, have no metal skills and can not weld so if I will fix that in the near future, I don't know (I'm eager to learn though!).

DeSoto's of mid fifties and beyond are cool for more reasons than one (the obvious Hemi but also the looks - yes some of those fins are insane but that's what make them cool).

DeSoto is an underdog, much like a lot of Mopars. Everybody wants a Ford or Chevy or a Mercury for that matter (talking about '25 - '64). Only the people who dare to look further than what is 'socially acceptable' wander in territories that are overlooked by many and underestimated by even more. The looks you get when driving a DeSoto; most people think it's smaller (when they've seen it on pictures) and you definitely stand out between all those tri fives, deuces and mercs.

Dang...you had an Adventurer, 'vert as well? You are da man! It's yet another car that I lust after.

If that was Raffael in Torino that got your Adventurer, it is in very good hands...he is a miracle worker!

Looking forward (pardon the pun) to seeing your UTE resto!

Yes Raffy has my old ragtop and if you are following the thread on the forward look website He is making great progress! I hated to let it go, but I could not afford to finish it like he is. Actually I had two 1957 Adventurers. Below is a shot of my garage before the sale. 57 Adventurer Convertible and a 57 Adventurer coupe for a parts car.

Pun not withholding my UTE is a 56 so that would be the forward look era, but the styling is pre (Exner) forward look designs because of the Australian manufacture being behind the times.

A buddy of mine will be waking his '49 up from a LONG slumber very soon. The poor thing has sat in storage for 30+ years. Will post pics when it happens. He just got a set of Allstate WWWs for it, 7.10-15s
