I'm new to the site so i thought I'd start a thread on my recently acquired 64 F100 project. Its a really solid truck other that the floor pans and passenger cab corner, the cab mounts are perfect and the paint shines when waxed. Its a factory 223 3 speed on the column truck but the 223 is long gone and the 3 speed has seen better days. It came with a newly rebuilt 300 that's .030 over with flat tops comp 260h cam split header offenhauser split port 4 barrel manifold and transdapt engine and transmission cross members. Along with a family of pack rats at no extra charge lol. So far I've gotten all the rat shit out of the interior and I'm getting ready to order floor pans this week hopefully, me and my business partner are wanting to make this our "shop truck" to promote our custom interior business. I'm planning on keeping the straight axle and factory paint for now but we plan on painting it this fall so we can get it out to some shows to try and get out name out there. I will keep this thread updated as we make progress as we are trying to have it up and going by June if funds will allow it. Now on to the pics. And here are the custom door panels we made for it. We have an idea for the headliner but we are still working in it we used the lightning bolt to go with the theme of the hood emblem which we will be putting into the headliner
Great start! Lots of info on the Slick60s site for these trucks A 5speed would make the 6 happy -Shiny
Thanks guys, I thought about the Mazda 5 speed like in the later truck but I'm not a fan of the hydraulic clutch idea. I have an old 3 speed od top loader that I've thought about using because I think they have like a .72 overdrive and I already have it I just needs clutch and a bell housing. I have a few days off next week so I'm going to Start prepping the engine bay area and decide if i am going to use the 64 grille or put my 66 grille in it
Thank you, with it being a 6 cylinder I really have no clue what to pit on mine for mufflers or pipe size? I'm guessing 2 ¹/⁴" I have a split header so it will have dual exhaust and probably an h pipe but I still have no clue what to use for mufflers
glass packs, if you have the money get some porters, if not cherry bombs are cheap. Thats what I used on mine, you can check out my build thread for some ideas.
I'm really not a fan of glass packs. I was thinking some 2 chamber flow masters or some welded dynomax
Got the front clip off it today I think I'm going to go ahead and start flipping the axle and notch the frame while its off and then start fitting the transdapt cross member and set the engine and Trans in it in a couple weeks more pics tomorrow I ran out if time today
