    Update:
Got my 48 licensed April 1st. Put about 1,000 mile on it already! The V6 5speed with 3:55 gears is pulling 20 mpg regularly. The V6 has about 25 more HP than most built up flathead 6's have. The car is fun to drive, and everything functions.
Thought I'd give you guys some newer pictures. I'm planning on starting on the body work shortly. Final paint will probably be white and blue. The dividing line will start at the bottom, front edge of the door as a point. The bottom will go under the car at about the mid door area and the top will go up around the back just under the rear window to the other side. The nose and roof will be white and the back section will be blue. Its probably going to be #117 and have my business name on either on the quarter behind the number to on the trunk lid.

The poor old 4x4 is done in my life, I think. The frame is folded up bad, I can get another frame easily enough, but it would be like starting over again. The truck and i had a great run of 12 years as a daily driver, but its time for me to move on.

I bought the truck back from the Insurance company and have retained the title. The cab is still OK, but the front sheet metal is hurt bad, and the transmission/transfercase is broken. It needs a new home. Gene

    DOUBLE DITTO!!!!
I love how that is looking bumpnrun,
I am getting ready to throw a motor in mine to drive this summer, I am jonesing for wrapping my a$$ in some radiused fender wells:D:D:D

The 5 speed went to the roadster so the old 3 speed stays, the Vette rally wheels have stayed so far, and I am putting in it a really healthy 355, with 305 heads and my big solid cam. Giving myself two weeks!!!

    .....Starting......NOW....

started on mine the other day, a 2001 dirt modified chassis and a 1940ISH mopar body, 350 chevy and auto trans.

no fenders, it will have a hood and some kinda grille.

removing 22-24 inches and making her a 2 door.

    good thread:D

    Later

Here's mine. 1960 Galaxie, gonna have a warmed over 390/4spd, and most of the vintage stock car looking stuff....roll bar, wheels/tires, lettering, and Big sway bars.[IMG] Can't wait to finish and be driving it.

    Nice! :D

Just get period-correct steel wheels...like the H-M race wheels. Avoid the later model kidney bean or modern Aero wheels. Stamped steel is the only way to fly...!

Yep! I guess anything else wouldn't be or look traditional. :)

This is the look and feel I eventually want for my '64 Olds... even though nobody hardly ever ran a Cutlass stocker back in the day. I like the vintage Trans Am look as well. Fat tires, steel wheels, and big motor. Mine would be a 455. Still a stock 330 for the time being. I would love to see that Galaxie done up as described by the original poster.

man i was about to buy a FF kit car for a vintage style build intended for track (road course) duty but you guys got me really thinking now... a street legal vintage modified may be in my future

Nash, what kind of tires are these?? (and size?) one of my main challenges is finding a set of Y/Z rated tires for with a large sidewall to be faithful to the vintage look, but with a compound and sidewall built for road course action, and these look to be just that...

That Chevelle may be the coolest thing I've seen in a long time. I can't wait to see more pictures. Great job.
