We are doing the Mississippi Great River Road down as far as Hannibal Mo. and then south west to Dr Daves office in Conway Ar. Tonight we be in Muscatine Iowa and it's raining, didn't have any rain until we went out to dinner at the Bryn-Mawr Steakhouse. The place was just like the type of Supper Club that we are used to in Northern Wisconsin. Locally owned and the owner greets you at the door. Food was great, Chebby is running great, Maggie and I are gonna go see if we can find Huck Finn tomorrow. Pictures to follow tomorrow, didn't take any today. Stay tuned BB
we leaving tuesday morning head that way Hope to see you there for sure. Taking Cassies 56 first time car has been out of the area. Be safe RED
I went to Hannibal with my Dad when I was a kid. It was a really neat little tour. I look forward to pic's. Watch out for Injun Joe!
Good morning Bob. I am up early today and can't wait to hit the road heading towards Bob Owens place. See you there?
I haven't been up there in years but I remember enjoying going down Hwy 79 between Lousiana(Mo.) and Clarksville as it runs along the river a lot. Then there is always old Hwy 61 which went thru a lot of small towns. Of course in may be all different now. "Progress" don't ya know. Anyway, I always thought Missouri was a pretty place to drive. Wish I could go along.
That sounds like a great trip. I'd love to do a road trip to Central Texas when I could worry about what I got to see and do more than how many miles I could cover in a day. Maybe next year.
Left Muscatine but not before stopping at a little park overlooking the Mississippi. Drove over the river to Illinois and came across this old covered bridge that had been moved from it's original location just down the creek. No running or Horse play allowed Who wouldda thunk that they had Satellite dish's way back then. Neat sign on a vacant building in downtown Dallas City Illinois. More old sinage just down the street in the same town nearer the river. The sign at the former used car lot, kinda rough but I'd put it out next to my shop. Picnic lunch overlooking the river at riverside park in Hannibal Mo. What a great spot, nice and quiet, just Maggie & I and the birds and squirrels. Statue of Mark Twain in the same park on a different bluff. Tom Sawyer & Huck Finn statue in downtown Hannibal near the river. This one's for Fat Abone. Wadda ya think Junior????? This was taken near Lake of the Ozarks where we are spending the night. More tomorrow. BB
Now that is the way to travel! this came from the old Coca Cola bottling plant in Muscatine.....so I was told when I bought it.
Up and at em bright and early on a beatifull Monday morning. Well maybe not so early but at least it's bright. Heading for Conway Ar to see Dr. Dave's fabulos office. We hope to find some other interesting things on the way. Later BB
Musctine is where the Mississippi river runs east and west...Mark Twain said it has a beautiful sunset there, and he guessed the sunrise was just as great, but has never seen it
Bob and Maggie just left the office, all smiles from their fun drive down highway 5 earlier this afternoon. Thanks for stopping by guys! Was great to see you and chat for a bit. Hope that voice is back quick Maggie!
