Took the crossmember to Wild West Rod and Custom (where my frame is) and got it welded in place. I also C-notched the other crossmember to clear the tailshaft of the T-5. Seems a little redundant to have parallel crossmembers here, but I like the way it looks. This car will be a driver, and strength and triangulation will all be apparent as we go along here.....

As you can see, I'm going to have to shorten the '36 bones some. Planning to get that done this coming week, along with rear diff alignment and mounting.

Got 80% of the crossmembers fabbed up and welded in yesterday.

I'm really liking the parallel bones/bars theme there! I still have to triangulate some areas but that's small stuff I can do at home here.

Then Dale (Curbspeed on the HAMB here) trailered it home for me and here it sits!

Looks great man. Early A sedans on '32 rails are just so right.

    John,

I stopped by Wild West a couple weeks ago to look at your project. Looks like it's coming along just fine. It looks alot better with the rear spring attached. You're doing a great job.

That rear spring was a real pain stretching it to fit. Almost seemed too narrow, but it's in now.
Next step is raise up some more "car money" and pay Bart for the T-5 in it! With the Dwight Bond adapter, everything fits well and my floor will be mostly flat.

Great looking build John, always wanted mine on Deuce rails. I have another 29 in the field of dreams behind the house, maybe it will be on rails. But for now I am working on my 51 'Burb. May need your advice as time goes on. Always liked the way yours looked.

  14. Nice work John, some times I wish I would have used a '32 frame on my sedan. Cant wait to see some more progress.

  15. I may have missed them and if so I'm sorry, but do you have any pictures of the gas tanks? or have you not done them yet?

Haven't done the fuel tank yet, actually haven't done much lately except design and build a metal driveway gate and catch up on some home projects.
I'll post some pics up when the gate's mounted this weekend.

Tuesday is brain surgery day, followed by lots of downtime. (I'm the patient, not the surgeon)!

Been focused on welding and bracing the body so I can remove it safely and finish frame welding and bracing.

Here's what I built that's taken some Model A time: Made to look like a pair of 8' swing gates, but it actually slides.
Started out with a bunch of metal stock and two premade medallions.

    John,

Where were you when I welded up my gates last year?

Seriously, good luck on Tuesday. My thoughts are with you.;)

Thanks guys! Spent a little time figuring out inner body pieces and bracing. Wanting to shore up the body and get back onto the frame.

I wish I was a friend of John and his family, I'd make damn sure this car got on the road. He was putting some good work in to this project.

Along with that other thread, the who would you like to have a beer with one, John would be on my list.

I joined H.A.M.B just a couple weeks ago. I enjoy it. I read John's Build Thread ''29 sedan on a 32 frame'' from begining to end. I was shocked as any one who was here 6+ months ago. RIP John.... Tnomoldw When the going gets tough, the tough get going...
