that color is killer! Lucky lady.

  5. I love this whole thread. Very nice "low buck" job. Love how you said you moved the dash out four inches, like it was nothing. That's a hell of a lot of work. I think you did a fantastic job. I'm not crazy about the colour, but that's just me.
    Car has great lines.
    Hats off.

Thanks guys, we finally got her on the road and have a few bugs to work out seems the fuel tank leaks and have to give the motor a good tune up.

A few pics of the final product.

  12. Car turned out great for sure. Looking at your frame/pan swap vs. my car, looks like you didn't keep any of the front inner structure? Also did you have to lengthen your frame in the back?

By front structure do you mean the toe boards and such? If so yeah I used all that from the Pontiac just above the brake booster across to the heater box. I then just pretty much welded the Merc firewall to the Pontiac.
In the rear it just lined up nicely I just added a 1" filler strip on the trunk floor to body.

  14. Cool did you have to extend the frame in the back?

Nope stock length frame in the back

  16. Cool what are you using for the front windshield trim?

  17. That is one Great looking Build
all my freinds want me to do something like that
but my Frame is in Great Condition, so I want it
    to be left alone
the only thing I changed was the Engine
to a SBC with a Automatic
a Realy Great Build & nice color
    lots of luck when Crusing

Haha honestly it's just that peel and stick chrome stuff.

  21. It looks great and that's what I will be doing for the time being too... Did you flush fit the front glass? What size did you use 5/16 or 7/16?

Well just a little update we have been cruisin the merc for a few months now, and we have almost 7500 trouble free miles on her already. We also lucked out and found an original hood ornament and got it just before we left on our trip to the Indy Road Rocket Rumble.

Lookin' good , brings back old memories . My late father had a 2 dr Monarch in the 50's and 60's .....the hood ornament was a bone of contention when a gas jockey offered to " check the oil " which my Dad never allowed anyone else to do . The guy grabbed the hood ornament to lift the hood ...thought my Dad was going beat on the guy .....luckily the ornament survived and Dad cooled down . His was dark green with flattie , wide whitewalls .
