Correct... I used later Zephyr gears in mine... it was a common solution to space problems in early hot rods because it moves the shifter forward and to the right... there is a thread trying to find history of the body that turned into a build thread:

It is a survivor, first ran in the Pasadena/Arcadia area in the late 50s or early '60s, ran both street and drags...I think it might have been a father-and-son project, was rediscovered some years ago, think it might have made the Pasadena Roadster Club reliability run a couple of years ago (?)...sort of an orange/red color, if I remember right....very cool car, one of a few to run a blown Chrysler on the street...

Or did he hop in that time machine he was talking about and go back to post it like it was 3 years ago. I just blew your mind. :D

  9. I just scrolled through this thread again, and I'm constantly blown away by the cars in here. It's such a good reference point for a 50s styling.

Well it's taken me three days to get through this thread and I love it. Someone was installing an olds engine in a 35 Ford and I sent them some pics of my first project. A 32 5W with a 52 Olds 88. Was built in the early 50s in OKC. He suggested I post them on this forum, which I didn't know about so here they are. Someone mentioned that so many of the cars ran wide whites. Hell man that was all there were back then. We used what ever we could fabricate or that would fit to build these thing. Only time they were in primer was when they were waiting for $$$s to paint. Rust NEVER, that would have been to embarrassing. In about 57/58 the car was sold for $450. I'm the short guy in the pics, tall guy was my best buddy, Girl was my then girl friend whom I still visit with via e-mail. But been married to another wonderful woman for 54 years.

I submitted a "how to" for careyohio on the building a V'd roadster windshield for the upcoming Baileigh - Tech Week contest... no high tech tools in this build... but, I'm sure he could find a use for something on the next project... I know I'd appreciate your comments since he was caught off guard and was really surprised by the responses so far... I'm glad I'm not the only one impressed with his talent for creating an era correct whindshield

  21. My brother has owned this car since 1974. It was built by Larry Carline in 1953/4. Older pictures were taken in 1958 by John Stahura.

That is ridiculously gorgeous. Not saying it's wrong for the 1950s, but you ought to put it in the "1940's period correct hot rods" thread too.

Thanks Dave. But I know there are purists on here, and the 53 flathead makes me think early 50's.
