i guess last month was "days gone by". while the photo looks old, the innocence of the day is missing.

Yes that is Main St, and I do have an affection for woodies, and I used to live near Huntington 40 yrs ago, did I miss a woody get together?

  20. Check out those shoes the boy is wearing. I had a pair, about 1960 I think they were called Wings - the top flap lifted up to put 'em on then push the flap down. About the most uncomfortable shoes I ever owned!

Yep, I had a pair also. The idea was good, but the execution was so-so. Very uncomfortable.

During WWII, due to housing shortage, all the overflow of new people from Ok.--Texas---Etc. would camp out on Huntington beach with tents & other quarters, while working at defense factories & ship yards etc.
As each day went by each family would toss their empty food cans out the backside of their tents, resulting in large piles of empty's.

Thus---The name "TIN CAN BEACH" became synonymous with Huntington beach!!!----Only the old timers remember this!----Don:D:D

Given the era of the Cosmo there, can anybody guess the approx. YEAR of this junkyard pic?
And from that billboard back there, the city???
