Mine, going up for sale soon. Sons daily driver was stolen so I need to free up some cash. It's a late 62 with new GM crate engine, new turbo 350, and all new Yukon gears/axles etc. Great potential. Hit me with a pm if interested.

We are working on this 66 in our shop now. 66 with some mild custom touches. Shaved drip rail, lowered, disc brakes, hidden vintage air set-up. **those are roller wheels**

  15. ^^^^ I'm digging the orange - followed your build for a while - inspires me ^^^^

Question - Any of you ever do the rear tank conversion in the early frame?

I bought a 62 C10 out of Dallas TX and still want to move the tank back aft.

    Thanks y'all...

The 60-62 frames are actually about 42" wide at the rear, compared to the 63-66 which are 34" wide. Therefore the conversion should be easier on the older trucks.

I have a question about these trucks, Are the long beds the same frame as a suberban?

    Yes and no.
The Suburban has an extra length of frame rail attached to the end of a regular long-bed frame. (At least the '60-62, and I'm fairly certain I've read they continued that practice thru '66).
This is why a receiver-style hitch kit for a pick-up won't work on the Suburbans.

The extra length of rail was factory riveted in place, I believe using the stock bumper bracket bolts on the LB frame rails.

    the short answer , no-
sub frames are similar to a short wheelbase truck, the rear frame horn has a notch to clear the rear body brace, and has provisions to mount the bumper like the front has- (see pics <63-66 frame>)

    long wheelbase are 127 inches.
subs and short wheelbases are 115 inches.

  24. Me too - jus say'n...

Can a 64 283 small block set-up with factory 4 barrel intake support a 78 power brake booster?

Since I'm buying a burb clip for my 62 I got the brake booster/master as well - anyone know a sweet simple way to set up the firewall for the later bracket and booster???

Anybody with a fleetside have the filler panels that go between the bumper and the bed?
I never see them... I've seen two in junkyards in the last 6 years since I've been looking at these trucks, and pulled one of them today. The other side was rotted beyond salvage.

They're simple pieces, so I'm wondering if there's a market to reproduce them.

Very, very nice. What did Use to lower it? I'm getting ready to paint mine soon and figured I will lower it after I get it together.

Thanks. The front has 1 coil cut off the stock springs. It ended up being @2 1/2" to 3" drop. The rear has 5" drop springs, c notch, panhard bar. I put a front swaybar on it to keep it tight.
