I just have a problem with the word 'Street Rod". The car is beautiful but where's the billet and tweed to make it a 'Street Rod'?

Neither of these cars are "street rods"....they kinda have to call it Street Rod of the Year due to the name of the mag. It would be kind of silly for them to call the winner Hot Rod of the Year from Street Rodder mag.
    p.s. And yes I know you're only joking. Billet & tweed...now that's funny.
You forgot the 22" wheels !!!

  4. ^Where I come from, 'street rod' is somewhat synonomous with 'hot rod'.

I do - however - see the distinction between traditional and modern.

Either way....The cars we're referring to in this thread are damn nice...whatever label one feels like putting on them. The builders/owners should be very proud.

Doug...Awsome job. Tasteful and perfect. I think you proved that a great car can still be built by its' owner, and get a pat on the back by a national publication that usually only recognizes the cars built by pro shops.

Street rod came to mean a hot rod that was streetable. But this is probably due to the NHRA (drag racing). As for me, I think anything '48 and earlier is a hot rod. But, like all things automotive, it usually depends on who you ask and how many beers are consumed.

I got this issue today due to this thread and a TBucket that's also featured. It's a great issue of a magazine I had stopped buying. That deuce as well as all of the cars in the issue were amazing. Some had wheels I don't care for, but it's easy to look beyond that crap.

dugbred, your car kicks world class ass.

Not making this a "Pissing contest"---Agreed both "street rods" are very good quality!!
And, thinking about what some comments made,---My idea of a street rod is one thats driven on the road for short OR long distances enjoying chasing the "lines".
No trailers!--Unless mechanical failures warrant it.
Yes, I'll put my 300,000 miles DRIVEN since 1968 up against trailered "Pussy's.
    Nuff said!

Enough^^^^ already. The car is neat, regardless of what magazine gives it a Top Choice.

  9. Looks like a Hot Rod to me! Congratulations on the award!

yea, i hate street rod's too man. finished to a high degree, quality part's, a well thought out plan, builder's with a good eye for color, stance, etc, street rod's are lame. i hope some of you enjoy the narrow view of this hobby you've chosen to take. yea, car's that get compleated and enjoyed by their owner are lame.
