I was wondering what you guys and gals out there are using to mount your Cadillac 365 OHV engine into your frame.

I see the originals area little spendy and figured why re-invent something that somebody else has probably done better any ways.

I had hoped to see a little of the creativity in pic's of what folks have done, possibly avoiding purchasing Cadillac stock items.

  6. Use stock mounts from a 50 Cadillac. They bolt directly to the block, the rubber bushing is level. You then just need to add tabs off your frame to mount.

Will your 50 stock mounts bolt up to my 1956 engine block???
    Any pic's?

  8. Russell, They use the same mount as a 50s hemi use so any thread that has hemi engine mounts pictured take a look at them.I made some for my 365 using flatty style mounts as already suggested.

Doesn't PovertyFlats make mounts for early Cadillacs?

Poverty (Paul) and I stay in touch from time to time and I've never heard him mention this.
I will need to touch base with him on this topic.
    Thanks for the heads up.

I got to say those custom mounts sure look good and I figure they will be a lot less costly than purchasing stock Cadillac parts that probably still require work to fit my hot rod project.
    Thanks for sharing.

there's a guy on the auction site regularly selling these. pretty clean, simple and to the point. add a donut and a tab off the chassis and your set. it's what I'm doing in my chassis

These are from Chassis Engineering to fit the Hemi. They were quite low buck. Sorry the header blocks the view. Regards, Ron

I have kinder taken a liking to these mounts offered on eBay.
They are listed as hemi, but I believe some body mentioned earlier that these will work on the 365 cadillac engine.
Will they work??? ebay Item number: 230755703214

I'd just spend 30$ at dennis carpenters for two early ford motor mount kits and build your own. If you can mount you motor mount stands on the frame directly under the engine mount tabs on the block it's cake. I did terds mounts in 2 hours and he chromed them the next day.

This kit uses an early ford style rubber biscuit mount.
The part numbers for those rubbers from carpenters is
    b-6038-k
    Or
    78-6038-k

Building what you want would be very straight forward...
The hemi mounts are alright, but the others could be fab'd quickly.
I need to build another set for my 331, I can knock out a set for you pretty cheap if need be.

Just an FYI... What ever type mount you decide on, be sure to maintain the 3-bolt attachment. Using one long bolt at the top can damage the block.
