History just got some racing pics in of my 32 + others at the strip, circa late 50s

    my uncle, the builder of my 32 back in the 50s, just sent me down some pictures he recently found

    he thinks they are from 1955, i think maybe a year or 2 newer

    they are from walkill airport in upstate ny, i believe in orange county

    i stll have the same front license plate, blc headlights and rear window on the car that you can see in these pics

    that's some cool old pics you got there! sometimes I forget why I come here... now I remember!
     
  7. Excellent photos and the photographer was right that in the action. I was an old time flagger and that was sometimes scary.

    for those that dont know, whats written on the side of the car is

    "highway men"

    it was my uncles club, the front plate is on the car in the pic, and is still on the car today

    I was trying to ID some of the engines; looks like a very early Olds 303 in the 33 Tudor? And a Buick nailhead, and a few hemi's which is suprizing for 1955.

    Thanks, I forgot to ask, just as I hit the submit button :rolleyes:

    I was thinking it still might have had a flathead.

    that's a good turnout of oldies for the east coast, but the spectator crowd is unusually large, so it must have been a big show with good promotion.
