I have a water pump for 1960 235 that needs replaced, I can't find new pump with the same hub height, ( 5" ) I found one thats 5 1/2 . Thinking of beating the hub down a half inch , I'd like to know if anyone has done this ,any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Welcome from Indy. Try asking this on the main board. This is the intro page and not as much traffic here.

Don't beat the hub down with a hammer or you will ruin the seal.If you must move the hub use a press and support the shaft on the other end, also becareful not to change the impeller clearance or the pump wont have the right capacity.
