bagged 53 chevy 4 door rear wheel well question

    i have a bagged 53 chevy 4 door and the front lays on the ground but the rear of the frame does not cuz my tires(215/75/15) are a little to tall and bottom out in the rear tubs....my question is has anyone cut them out?and if so please post pix

    Search the F*** you 54... from Gambino... he's done a bunch!

    Yea you basically have to cut out the inner fender and rebuild it!

    Yes, Many people have relieved the wheel wells to achieve that....try searching if you havent already. There has to be pictures somewhere on here. Good luck!

    ive seen people do it on 2 doors but its not that ez on a 4 door

    I bagged my '49 when she was a 4 door - could not lay frame because of the rear wheel wells... so what i did was... I made it a true 2 door (see how here)and cut the rears out and moved them up (see that here).

    In order to raise them on a 4 door car you will need to mod the "bump" when the door opens and the mod the doors to fit the raised inner structure. I thought long and hard about doing that... in the end was better to convert to a 2 door.

  7. I remember seeing one somewere that the guy just cut the top off the wheel wells and made a sheet metal box on top. It didn't look great but it worked to get the car a little lower.

    If your only looking for an inch you could run a shorter tire.
    205/70/15 or a 215/70/15 maybe its an option if you not looking to put the rear bumper on the ground.

    the most important thing for any 49 - 54 is that the rockers hit the pavement just like the 50's.
