Customs Is this rad '57 Kustom Buick van real or shopped?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Malpass, Mar 12, 2012.

  1. The power of the HAMB is needed! I ran across this insane Kustom van done with '57 Buick parts while surfing the web, I can't seem to find any information about it. Does anyone know if this thing actually exists or if it's just one photoshop wizzard's concoction?

  3. I hope so badly that's it's real. I want to talk to whoever built/owns it and feature it on my website.

If its not real, one of you crazy fabricator guys needs to get on it!

The fuzziness around the rear quarter trim makes it look like a photoshop, but its an awesome looking concept.

Looks like mostly a buick 4 Dr, some wagon or sedan delivery roof bits and some cabover stuff. It's kinda cool.

Looks along the same line as the RoadRunner van that was pictured in Hemmings as a photochop

It kinda rules from where i stand.

I say photochop too, but that thing is way kool and someone with enuff will to roll it must build it. Its way over my skill level but totally doable!

Where would you start with that build?
COE hood and build off that?

  12. That's kinda where I'm at with it, whoever shopped it did an amazing job, but I hope against hope that someone with the skill will build it. It's just too cool not to.

Positively Photoshop. Look at the forward port on the hood (does not follow curve) and the color of all the shadows that have been added do not match the rest of the photo.

i knew about the pontiac concept one, but have never seen that one. my guess, as well, is a great photoshop, but someone should definitely build that thing....it would be so amazing to see that actually driving down the road...

I think both the van and the chopped 57 Buick panel are.

It looks like a photoshop to me too. But it's a very well-exectued photoshop and a killer concept.

  24. I love a good mystery, also love photoshop chops !
Good choppers pride themselves on realism of course, its really the gage by which you separate the men from the boys so to speak. A pros work is impossible to tell by pixelation. The picture posted was very low res so its hard to evaluate it from a pixel standpoint, however there are several things though that immediately jump out at me that screams photoshop.
Check out this picture and notice how the ports dont follow the body line contour at the front (red lines). Also notice how the pillar or rear most glass angles differ (blue lines). It also seems there is a rear reflection onto the back seat, like a rear window would make, but there is no rear window (orange circle). I also seem to pick out a face reflection in the windshield of someone who is not there (purple circle). And last, there looks to be a bit of a ghost line from a bad selection cut along windshield and roofline (green arrow).
I wish I had a better resolution pic to evaluate here but in my opinion this is in fact a mediocre photoshop chop, but like you all, I really dig the design idea.

I would start with a rear wheel drive Chev van, 57 Buick, COE hood, and 2 or 3, 5 foot X 10 foot sheets of body metal.
