This is how I got it. Original paint, seat upolstery, radio delete and no motor or trans. Plans are to lower it redo the interior, thro a motor & trans in it, and disc brakes up front.
welcome to the club. i have a 55 pontiac thats been my daily driver rain or shine for over 3 years, there great cars and a blast to drive try to keep the running gear pontiac
I gotta admit,,,with the title I thought it was a "rare" pontiac chief 1 ton car...I was expecting 20" widowmakers on the sumbitch.
ABS Brakes in Oc ,Ca made me a disc kit. It just goes on the stock spindles. Originally I was going to just thro in a sbc/turbo 400. But I did get a 72 pontiac 350 with a pontiac 350 trans. Its not the best pontiac motor, but the price was right. Now I just have to build it. My dad and I went to an estate sale to look at a 56 chevy. But we saw this and both agreed it was cool and different. Price was less than half what they were asking for the chevy. Once I get started I will do a build thread.
maybe some one can answer this question what are the numbers on the firewall? are they from the assembly line?
very cool,i have a few 55 pumpjacks in the past ,scrapped a few too,i sure miss having one around, good score!!
Damn that's dirty! Looks solid though.. Peek at my 57 build thread, link is below. PM me if you have any questions, I'll try to help if I can.
I was going to ask about the numbers on the firewall too. The pink I have to this is dated 1958. Last time its been on the road. Thanks for the comments.
This is a photoshop another gentleman did for me. Im diggn it. Im looking forward to getting chrome steelies for it.
That looks like a nice start, and from the trim level i'm guessing a 2511D . There's plenty of info on pontiacsafari.com to decode the firewall tag data. There is also a 55 and 56 online manual plus lots of other great 55-7 info.
Nice loooking '55, appears to be in about the same condition as mine. I thought about tubbing mine, but its on the backburner now ( other projects first) I'll check back to see your progress.
