spindle and spring drop in the front...total of 5 inches.

Since it is a truc gmc, it has leafs so the axle was flipped on top of the spring

    Oh dear Jesus....

  8. It has hope though. Get rid of those goofugly wheels and drop it. Chrome reverses and pinner whitewalls and it would at least be presentable.

    Hey guys,

is there a definitive brake-swap thread going for these pickups?

Not on here I don't believe but google 67-78 Chevy trucks and there is a thread for 60-66 trucks. Read through it and there is a lot of info on swapping brakes and stuff. I can't remember for sure but I think 74-87 you can take the whole front cross member and swap it over to a 62-66 Chevy. Sometimes it bolts right up but you may have to egg a few bolt holes but that will give you front disk brakes. That is what I'm doing on my 64 right now. I bought a whole 78 Chevy for 400 bucks and I'm swapping over the front cross member.

EDIT: and the gold is actually a little lighter...the camera was set on one of the fake HDR settings. Not a ton different but it is a little lighter.

Nice, Lotus did you use hot rod flatz for the bottom color? I've read up a lot on HRF's but I've been wondering something, does the "flatness" of the paint go away after you start washing it? I mean basically washing it and drying it buffs the paint slowly I was just wondering how long the satin finish would hold up??? I wish they made a really dark brown metallic... O well, I might have to make my truck shiney... haha

I used HRFlatz on my '39 for two years before I went with shiney. I sprayed two wet coats as instructed but initially wished I had sprayed the usual three as with other single stage paints. The finish was a little splotchy (flat spots and less flat spots) when it dried, but as it aged and was washed, it became more consistant. Giving the third coat supposedly would cause more gloss. Washing did take some of the flatness away, but the paint never approached glossy. ~WX1

That thing is cool, I'm curious as to why the turbo is so far away from the motor, isn't that inefficient being so far away from the intake?

  23. I have never been a fan of Hot Rod Flatz for that exact reason.
