Bought a beautiful 13 drawer Powerkraft tool box today. I would guess that its from the mid to late 60's. some one did a poor job of painting it red. Was originally a tan color.I haven't found any serial #'s on it. If any one could please tell me more about these boxes I would appreciate it.

Yep, it was a Montgomery Ward house brand. I worked for them in the mid 60's. Not sure about the tan color though, the ones I remember seeing are like the one in this 1981 catalog picture. Yours looks like more of a professional model than the one on sale though, larger and more drawers. Good find.

Wards actually spelled it Powr Kraft. My ex Father in Law worked in Wards service dept for years and years. I bet he still has one of their tool boxes and tools, but I can't find out since he and I don't exactly speak much these days. :p

Nice find but the real question is how did you have to give to get it?

As long as everything works you can always repaint it.

@ jimbo17. paid $50 for it and they helped me load it. A paint job is definitely coming soon.

What you have is a Craftmans tool box. My father gave me his tool box after he became disabled in the early 70's and I still have, and use it. I also have photos but keep getting a message that a security token was missing so I can't post them. I new to this sight so don't know what that means. If you email me direct I send you the photos. I can tell that there is a craftsman logo is on the bottom drawer of the top set.

Here's a scan from a 1972 Wards catalog. I think you have a #6 top box and a #7 roller cabinet. They were grey with red drawers.
