Um, if you had an extra 6 volt battery, why would you need a jump in the first place?

I bought a NAPA Industrial 6V battery. No complaints. You gotta make sure you buy a fresh one. Since they don't sell a lot, they tend to sit on the shelf for a long time.

What is the fun in that. Being 6volt makes you a cool kid and bragging rights.

I am all about 6v optima's. Seems like my Napa batteries where lasting a year (went through 2 both not being covered under warranty - no idea why had a receipt too). Installed an optima and wow its crazy how much better it starts and how much easier it starts in cold weather.

Two things : I agree with the OPtima choice; make sure you turn the radio off; ask me how I know.

Curious, when did you buy your last 6V Optima? I had one that last over 12 years. But I have also heard that the latest Optimas are made in Mexico and are not very good compared to the older 6V Optimas.

55 Ford has either a stick or a Furdomatic, both of which are push start-able! Get it up to speed and shift to 2nd (stick) or Lo on the Furdos.

You can also get one of those battery booster boxes. They have a gel cell and do not generate alot of amperage, just enough to charge up the dead battree.

Mr48Chevy,.... A correction,...ALL Ford 6 volt systems were POS ground,......They went to the 12 volt neg ground industry standard in 1956. (Which likely made accessory mfgrs very happy) !

When I did the 6 volt alternator conversion on my 53 ford. I had to change from positive ground to negative ground. That was years ago , do you still have to do that?
Fix the carb first and then worry about the battery.

HEY!!!! What's more FORD than a Model T??? Negative ground, on the ones that have batteries. No one knows what the hell is going on with magneto only ones...they're all parapsychology, not engineering. And good luck finding anything to clip your jumpers to!!
