Hi Zapp69, thanks for the nice comments. I hope you found the DVD informative.

I have a back-up plan if I don't get it done in time for my daughters prom, my mate Glen has a really nice '32 roadster so he will take her, I hope a few of my club members and other friends (hint hint) will volunteer escort her too. (the more the better)

David, it is by far the best DVD I have watched, most of the others use equipment the average shop doesnt have or breaze over important details leaving you worse off than before, I look forward to putting your advice into action.

Thanks I am glad you like it. I taught restoration to evening class students as a lecturer at college for twenty years on and off so I developed ways to form panels that people could do with the minimum of equipment. The DVD shows the same things as I would have taught in a year of evening classes. It took me many months work to make in order to show everything in a concise and clear way so its nice to get good feedback.

Stayed late last night to paint my backing plates. I am picking up new slave cylinders for the '40s brakes this weekend (among other parts) so the brakes will all be rebuilt soon. I have done a few of the structural sections for the cowl for the '27 body and will be getting a bit more done at the end of the week. Photos soon.

cheers Phil I did a bit more today, I hear you need your T body back soon so I am trying to get all the info and as much made as possible. Any chance I can borrow one of your other front doors when you take the body back?. It does not matter if it is rotten so long as most of it is there.

  10. It's only rear doors I have an excess of at home but I can leave you one of the front doors for a few more weeks...

I need to speak to Jamie about when he can do the wood parts for the trim but will next weekend or the following one give you enough time?

Thanks Phil, I will take you up on the offer of the loan of the door for a while, I will be finished with the body soon. Let me know when you want to come and get it.

We (Glen and I) did a quick mock up of the chassis yesterday so I could decide whether to go for the torque tube or open drive, I prefer torque tube and we decided we could make it work so now Glen has plenty to do for a while changing the trans over. I painted the backing plates and will have the new innards for my brakes tomorrow so he can also put that lot together, this gives me time to get some more of the body done before I start making the engine, trans and other mounts for the chassis. I intend to partially box the chassis as well.

I will post some more photos as soon as I get a chance I have work to get on with now(customers cars)

A word of warning, DO NOT watch it just before you go to bed other wise you will not sleep!

I made that mistake when I first got Davids DVD, all I wanted to do was run out to the shed and pound some metal! lol

Great work as always David, thanks for sharing.

I feel like I am getting somewhere with it now.The chassis is well on its way. The axle is dropped and new kingpins fitted along with a new front spring. The rear axle is ready to go with new shackles. I should have completely rebuilt brakes in a week or so, the engine has run, the gearbox (trans) is OK and will be swapped to closed drive soon. I have several sections of body made. I have started making the sub-structure for the body. I have most of the parts I need on order, just got to order door catches and hinges and boot (trunk) hinges. I hope to get the wheels painted in exchange for punching some louvers.

Still a long way to go but getting somewhere slowly.

I did a bit more on the firewall today I should have it finished soon. I will post some photos when its done.

Thanks, I am quite pleased with it, of course it will sit a bit lower at the front with the weight of the engine in it.

Yes, I have been putting in the hours lately 'cos I am over booked at work on top of doing this, I had stuff to do at home and besides I am all spent out at the moment so I thought I would give it a miss and work on my house.

Haha yeah, thankfully it's only like that during events that you've been waiting ages to go to.

I will stop by sometime for sure!

    David:
Your frame rails seem to have the stock '32 shape in the siderails.
Have you fitted the body sub frame yet? ('27 bodies are a straight trapezoid along the sides, I had to flatten my Deuce side rails to run parallel with the rocker panel sides...
