What do yall think about cast cranks I was wanting to get rid of my 4.300 eagle crank in my 532 bbf and put a forged one becouse I'm scared it could break it makes 650 HP the cast crank is rated 700
personally swapping cranks just for peice of mind is a lot of work. you might as well get the whole shibang rebalanced and rebuild/freshen it up. so what about the pistons/rods/mains/etc for strength? 650 hp isnt a lot of power out of a BBF, i wouldnt sweat it much. you putting big shots of nitrous on it? supercharger? turbo? if not, no biggie.....i mean- i like carnage though, so your milage may vary i had a factory 400 crank in a 351M, it made 350/490...... stock pistons/heads/valves/rods..... you get the picture...... with only a tiny 214 cam and headers. it got shot with a 150 shot for a while, and it never had issues.
What I ment was I have everything to put it together with its all In boxes still eagle h beams dimond flat tops and studs in the bottom with a gurdle ported Ford racing super cobra jet heads and single plane intake
If you still haven't built the engine, I would put the forged in there just to aid in prevention of scattering all the new parts. If the crank is used, and I assume that it is, you never know how long it could hold up to 700hp, and it might be weakened, especially if you are not familiar with its entire history...
so then you have NO CLUE what its going to make in the real world. i guess its the time to do it, before you assemble/machine. while im not very fond of them, SCAT makes a forged BBF crank.....
No its all new parts besides the block, and yes I'm coping my fathers dyno proven 650 HP combo he says that eagle is full of shit lol ,it wouldn't hold up to there 700 HP rating
I guess I was trying to cheep out lol . Gonna prob send the cast one back and get a forged one . I paid 318 for the cast one the forged one is 750 I think from jegs I'm prob gonna order in the am
the joy of a good deal is long lost when shit scatters out of an oil pan, and i always enjoy watching dents happen from the inside out on an oil pan...... if it aint my engine
