History **Found this little gem a couple days ago, all original 1936 Dodge truck**

This brings back a load of memories! My old man got a 36 Plymouth pick up from a friend for fathers day when I was just a runty kid.(8-9 years old) The engine smoked like pot head with a green card. and the brake fluid was jell-o like yours was. He swapped a 53 Plymouth engine into it. redid the brakes and down the road we went. I still wish I had that truck around. The 50 Chrysler in my avatar still has the flat 6 in it and 6 volt system. Keep the terminals clean and tight you wont have any trouble with it other than FINDING the bulbs. Great find, thanks for shareing and preserving it.

 

The Plymouth truck must have been a 1937. That was their first year for a pickup truck.

I’m pleased to hear that you want to keep her virgin. You are lucky enough to be the custodian of magical machine that typifies an important bygone era.

Someday, with a bit of luck, you can pass your truck along to a new custodian.

Your find is as much fun as a good episode of the Antiques Roadshow. I was grinning from ear-to-ear as I read your first post.

They don't come much better than that Mike .... well done. I had the (unrestored) 1938 Dodge Brothers Humpback panel van ..... I sold it a couple of years ago to a fellow in Winnipeg .... hope to see it on the road some day .... It has the same front end and cab as yours , with the (factory hand fitted) van body for the rear .... neatest of any old panels I have ever seen. Here is a link to a picture (not mine .... And yeah, keep the fenders, leave the body stock, lower it a little, but don't butcher it.

 

I love cutting old cars up and modifying everything, but I would definitely leave that one alone! Just drive it and enjoy it as it is!

 

Oh no, it's being left as-is. I couldn't bring myself to either restore it, or hot rod it. As they say.....They are only original once!
