What'd you learn to drive in?

I learned to drive in a '64 Falcon 170 auto, when I was 8.
Dad bought that car from his aunt when I was 10, and its been mine since I was 12.
Haven't driven it for about 30 something years.......

 

Mint green 1957 210 2-door sedan, 235 with power glide. Great car- wish it was still around.

55 Chevy Pickup--3 on the tree. Took two of us cause we weren't tall enough to reach the clutch; even sitting on the edge of the seat. So my cousins and I took turn on "floor" duty--rolling around on the floor and pushing and releasing the clutch on command.
Pretty scary, now that I think about it but a funny visual!!!

 

1988 Ford Aerostar mini van, booyah! Took my drivers test in that bad boy! Right after I got my papers, I bought a 1965 Impala SS ragtop 283 with a 2 speed powerglide. Loved that beast, even though the only thing holding it together was Bondo and my prayers. When that broke down, I "borrowed" my dads '81 Eldorado. Been hooked on the 'lacs ever since.

 

At 8 years old I started with a 1948 Minneapolis Moline tractor and a 2 row cultivator and drove back and forth across the corn fields all day.
At 10 years of age my dad told me I could drive the old 51 Studebaker on the field roads after I got the old Stude running.
When I was 17 I got my drivers lisc and dad said I could drive the old 60 Lark if I got it running ( you see a pattern here ).
Then I bought my fiirst car a 59 Lark 2 door and many more since.

 

Learned how to drive in my father's current girlfriend's stock '39 Ford two door sedan. I must have been about 14 or 15.

 

1950 and 1951 Massey-Harris 44 tractors, AND a 1951 Chevy 3800 pickup.

 

My dad's 1969 Chevy C-10 CST short bed truck which I am now the proud second owner. My first car was a 1950 Chevy Fleetline 2 door Deluxe.

 

My dad's 1964 IH Scout 80 1/2 cab 4X4. The passenger door had a broken hinge and I had to shout the door for the NYS Driving Inpsector. This was during the winter of 1973. The old guy saw a button on the dash and said; let hear the horn." So I pushed the button and blew the horn, he said; "let's go." I passed the road test the first time. Perfect parallel park too.

 

Mom had a 63 fairlane station wagon- I was pulling it in and out of the garage for her when I was 10, parents went on vacation and left me home to care for the dogs when I was 14- blew the trans . Buddy and I bought a junkyard trans for $25 and learned how to put it in- was still in it whan I put a rod out the side of the block at 16. Always had a
soft spot for those wagons. Jim

 

This, about 40 yrs ago. My uncle paid $30.00 for it. I FINALLY talked him out of it 3 yrs ago. peace

 

technically i suppose 4 wheelers riding lawn mower etc.

but first vehicle i drove in or learned to drive in was my dads slammed & flammed 40 Ford pick-up in a gravel parking lot when i was 11, it was awesome!

Took my driving test in the snow with chains on.

79 Mazda Wagon.

 

In 1961, my 81 year old grandfather taught me to drive in his early 50s Chrysler.

 

My first driving experience was at 10 yrs old driving my mom's 53' Ford Victoria.

When I turned 16 I learned to drive in my dad's 57' Ford Skyliner.

 

79 Lincoln Town Car my old man bought for $800- I guess he figured if I wrecked it I would be safe

1976 Buick Regal...350 CI w/ a 2 barrel carb. White with a dark red int. and landau roof.
My 1st car was a 70 chevelle malibu.

 

learned to drive in my folks 65 impala 4 dr hardtop. learned to drive a stick shift at @ 12 or 13 when Dad would let me drive his 67 chevy van down the gravel lanes to several of the farm ponds we used to fish. that sucker had the most vague shifter(3 on the tree) every other stick i've ever driven was a breeze compared to that one!

 

Ford Tractor at 11 years old-

 

I used to "borrow" my Mom's Buick GS conv. and my Dad's 67 Mustang...they were so pleased and surprised when they discovered how well I could drive when they finally started to "teach" me!!! Oh, what they didn't know!!!

 

I learned to ride a motorcycle first, A cool red Honda 90! The very first car I ever drove was my Dads 59 Chevy. In the early 60's we built a dune buggy together. Thats were I learned to drive a stick. I have driven a lot of stuff ever since.

 

Ford 8N series tractor and a 51 Chevy 3 ton silage truck with a 5/4 tranny,can you say double clutch?

 

A 48 chev coupe 3 in the tree 6 banger. Ran it till one day ran out of gas at the end of our long driveway. The ol man laughed and then made me buy more gas for it.

 

My Dad's less than 1 year old '68 GTO, great car to take to High School!

My first car was a 1965 plymouth fury 3. Payed $50. i drove the car for 5 years. sold it to my nephew for $600. first truck restored was a 49 chevy truck.
learned to drive on a datsun b-210.

 

66 Merc Park Lane convertible, sure did like that car.

 

10 years old, back in 1953, learned to drive in a '47 Dodge pick-up out in the cow field---didn't kill any cows
