Lets see some custom tail lights on 49-54 Chevy's

Bob your car is bad ass. I'm getting ready to start working on the back of my 54 chevy.This is the car and that's my first sketch.


I cleaned the idea up a little.

I got a 54 Buick Back bumper,chromeplaterjosh has some bezels he is helping me with.

here is a 49-50 fleetline with 54 tail lights and lees lens.

 

great thread. i've been kicking around a few ideas for my '54. still can't decide...

 

nothing special on my '50, just like '59 cad tail lights.

 

mine with 58 corvette

 

Here is my 51, former owner had 51 olds tail lights on the car not sure if i will keep them or go back to stock.

 

Im puttin 56 packard tailights in my 53. Sure its not original but what Ive always wanted to build

 

What is that rear bummper off of?

rear bumper is a 56 chevy that has been narrowed .75 inch on each side to make it fit the body

 

Here's a couple of different ones I have saved along the way. Saw this primer Fleetline with 19?? Olds tail lights at the KKOA Nats in 2000. Not sure where I found the Fleetline with the Corvette style rear end. Different but cool... Then, of course, you always have Augie Holtkort's "Smoothie" '51 with '54 tail lights. I'm not hating the '55 Plymouth tail lights on the sectioned coupe either.

56 Chevy lenses mounted similarly to 50 Pontiacs

 

Dr. Dave paid me a real complement earlier, now here are some you may not have seen before:

(1) Fastback with 1970s VW taillights - I think they are type III, but maybe Karmann Ghia lights.

(2) Frank Livingston's latest Fastback, Echo, with inverted Kaiser lites.

(3) Fastback seen at Daytona several years ago with 62 Vette lights, and 63 Vette-style split rear window.

(4) Custom lenses between the deck lid and the gravel pan on Jimmy Vaughn's Fastback.

What about 48 Chevy tail lights? Easy, and a different look? Traditional? I just dont like the Pontiacs, look too trailer to me.

As in Dr. Dave's previous post. 1950 Chevrolet built by Dave Stuckey in Wichita, KS in 1963. 4 customhand made asymetrical tail lights. Car was sold and went to Texas in 1964 or 1965. Wondering if car still exists.
