I wish I could have taken pictures but about 17 years ago I used to work at a place that shared a building with a small one man body shop. The owner was an old time lead guy who really did nice work. He had a customer who bought a '67 Ford Galaxy brand new when he was a teenager and held on to it. Over the years he had some rust repair done by the Ford dealership he originally bought it from. He had the two rear quarter panels replaced and some other rust outs repaired. Years later he brought it into the small body shop to have new rust outs repaired at the bottoms of the quarter panels. The body shop owner showed me the repairs done by the dealership before. They just welded what I assumed were new panels over the original ones and they also patched some rust holes using old grinding discs and smearing filler over them. The owner of the car kept the original invoices from the dealer repairs. The were dated sometime in the mid '70s and it was about $2K for this crap.

A nice addition to this thread would be pics of the owners / builders of these buckets of shite. Then we can all see the end results of those 60's acid trips that were 4 hours out but only 3 back............

Wow this thread has been quite the eye opener. Sure makes a person interested on any Kijiji/Craigslist/ebay car or truck to fly down there and see it in person before buying/bidding on it.

Some of this stuff is what nightmares are made of.

I was going to say it looks like you can weld using crickets.

  9. I remember seeing this thing several years ago at VLV. If I remember right, the owner was looking for info on who built it.

My addition to this informative thread. Look in the lower right corner to see an innovative way to run the steering shaft THROUGH the roll bar.

This shit is running legally on the road??

I've seen a lot of mickey mouse stuff on OT daily drivers while doing MVI's but nothing like this.

  23. I see some of the worst hackjobs on trailers that I end up having to repair. We get them in on a tow truck every year. Here is an axle someone tried to repair, over a previous repair. Then it got water in it and froze, splitting it over 21". SCARY!
We put a couple of new axles under this trailer.

A bit off topic, but someone mentioned wanting to see some owners of these hack jobs..... This might describe a few.

  25. That's some high quality butcher work right there.
