Congrats and welcome from Los Angeles CA

  6. I don't think they are ever finished...unless you have a shop build it for you. If you get one like yours, you will always change your mind or try something different, until you get it the way you want. Mine might be close to being "done" by the end of 2012. Just need interior then put it on my other frame. But i'm still driving it while I save money, haha!

Hey Bob, thats my plan, to get it drivable and drive it while saving money. Then do more as i save up more. Bob what's wrong with your stock frame? What frame are you going with?

Congrats on a cool car. Always fun getting what you've wanted forever. Have fun with it and keep us posted on the progress.

  9. Yeah I drove mine every chance I get though the door glass isn't in and the interior is only half there... Much more motivating for me to make progress.

Car looks great in the pic. Do you need to do some rust work on the floors or is it good. I was trying to decide what paint to use on my bare floor.

    Thanks, John
It does need a litte repair on the drivers side floor by the toe board and a spot on the passenger side. The spare tire well needs changed, and a little spot on the trunk floor. If you find a good paint let me know.

    Thanks, Mike

It was nice agian today so I thougth I'd straighten the rear tail pan. The one I got with the car was in worse shape than the one I had laying around, so I'm using that one. This is my first attempt to straighten anything this beat up. I think it came out fairly good. It still needs some fine tuning though. Here are some pictures.

    Here's what I started with.

Bob, do you have anything under your rear bumper?

  21. No. The part that wraps under the bumper was cut off by the previous owner.

I guess you really don't need the tail pan. You really can't see it behind the bumper.

About a week ago I picked up a few parts I needed from a good friend. I got a nice column and some supports for the rear quarters, and some other miscellaneous things.

Then I got a complete 53 desoto grill from hotrust here on the HAMB. Thanks Michael. I originally only had 6 teeth. Now the merc has all her teeth!!! I still need to modify the end teeth or I need to modify the grill pan. [IMG]
Slowly but surly I'm getting everything I need.

  26. Looks Great! Never realized that all 11 teeth would not fit without modifying them.

Nice to see that your getting all the old stock parts rather tilt new age stuff.

We are in the same boat, but I am piecing my 51 back together.

Whats the shift pattern for the manual column? Only one of my levers moves on the front of the column.

Nice job on the gravel pan.

    Flathead power?
