Titus, Your find is exactly what we have managed to do over the past 8 years at the Jalopyrama. For at least 4 of the shows, we've had very recent garage-find, early hot rods from around Maryland areas. This really blows a lot of guys minds when they walk into the Armory and see a car that they remembered from the days long ago. Great Story and hope the owner has many more hours of driving fun with the coupe. Thanks for sharing Mike www.jalopyrama.com October 20, 2012 - Annnapolis National Guard Armory for Jalopyrama #9
heres a few updates, sorry for the small pics, i dont really have the care to start a photo bucket account, i have enough passwords and crap to remember!! WE got the firewall cleaned up and waxed it up a little, dug into rebuilding the brakes, Loui got the wrong front wheel cylinders so we were able to work on those, but we redid the rears, cleaned and turned all the drums (they were perfect) repacked all the wheel bearings and put new seals in all the way around, also, the brake shoes that were in it were perfect, some of you might think we are crazy but they looked brand new, so we just hit them with some 180 grit to remove any glaze, there was no old grease or brake fluid soaked into them so what the hell! we started running all the brake lines, i couldnt find my 1/4 flair tool fitting so we basically fabbed up all the lines and tomorrow well finish flairing them all, we also got the motor ready to go in the car but noticed we had no pilot bearing so well get one of those in the AM, also Louie wanted a dual master cylinder so i went about fabbing up a mounted bracket to weld to the K-member, got that all done, now i need to make a arm to weld onto the brake pedal, i also pulled the pedals and cleaned them up, they were chrome plated at one time but the chrome isnt so nice anymore, but i shined em up anyways, were basically just degreasing everything, painting nothing and just doing the mechanicals, the whole bottom of the car and all the suspension was all painted silver at one time, there still some there but not too much! tomorrow we should have the motor in the maybe have the brakes working, no for the rewiring and all the little putsy stuff! JEFF
Wow! Just found this thread and read it all. Too bad he didn't make the reunion in it. But it is still one of the best stories ever!
motor is back in its home, still waiting on some wheel cylinders so were gonna brake till thurs, then back on it!
That is unreal! I can't wait to see the look on the guy's face the first time he gets to take it for a ride......again.
Stories like this make me feel all warm and fuzzy.....love it! Glad see see it wasn't hacked up in the 80's or 90's.
Jeff, you know where this car would look great......at Back To The 50's in June!! Then I can see it in person!
