While not a HAMB friendly car,(not many Ridler cars are)it was in my opinion an excellent choice.

Reminds me of a woman dressing her boy up in a sailors suit when all he really wants to do is to go out and play ball.

What's next after a Riddler car with the mini car next to it? One of those wierd dolls with his head under the hood? Oh, the negativity...but still...

It's always hard to tell how good or bad a car is from a pic. But I like the color. I like that it's a T-Bird. I'm curious as to how it was chosen. It's fairly plain. Maybe in person it's a knock out, but I don't see it. Having seen pics of other cars, this is disappointing.

Knowing the guys who built it, Im sure it meets the DETAIL required to win the Ridler trophy. Thats the point, not how flashy the car is.

Congrats to the winners, Im looking forward to seeing more of this car Hamb friendly or not.

That's the "most outstanding from among cars cars being shown for the first time"?

    Interesting. . .

There are 8 to choose from, pics do not do it justice.I was afraid the Foose car would win on name, not that his others didnt deserve to win.The Alexander car was not that cool.

That says a lot right there. The car may not be as "radical" or over the top as some think a winner of an award of this caliber needs to be but all of the photos I've seen of it in the last couple of days show that it is well built, well detailed and doesn't seem to have a bad angle.

Sometimes a guy just needs to sit back and appreciate the work and workmanship that went into building a car and not worry quite so much about maintaining his ''''trad or crusty car" creds. Just because a guy likes brunettes doesn't mean he can't appreciate a fine redhead once in a while.

  20. It is about the details and this has plenty. Out of the Great 8 this one was far and away the best the concept and execution of the build is exceptional. I have been trawling over the images all weekend. While it is not HAMB friendly it doesn't mean you have to hate it (not saying you do or are tfeverfred).

I actually respect those that build these type of cars. Too often people concentrate on how much money the owner sinks into a car and don't pay attention to the cars build details that were fabricated & perfected by regular guys like us that build cars for a living.

Was there a 500K Mercedes from the mid 1930's in the Great 8? That I'd like to see.

If someone was to tell me a week ago that a 55-57 T Bird would win the Ridler I would have questioned it. Once I looked at the detail of this car I figured that is the new Ridler. If one was to look at the incredible detail on the underside (such as the way the body rolled under and then ran parallel to the frame and on and on). Before I had a chance to look at the T Bird, a collector who has competed for the Ridler in the past, told me to look at the underside of this car. He was impressed so I figured it probably was pretty good. It is. It may not be a mid thirties hotrod but the craftmanship was up there.

I am happy in the sense in that it will put the builders in a new mode as to what they will do next. It may spur some different creativity for next year. I was not a fan of every part of the car but overall I thought it was the best of the great 8, for whatever that is worth.

Bob the SL (not from the thirties a 300 SL) was nice and the detail was great but it looked more like a display for Glasurit paint and not any type of car in competition for the Ridler. -Jim

The field was enormous,.. I believe there were 61 cars eligible and fit the criteria to be considered for the Grate 8 / Ridler,.....

The windshield on the 'Bird looks funny, and makes the car look smaller. Is it upside down or something, or is it just a completely custom windshield and frame?

I can appreciate it! I would challenge anyone to try for themselves. until someone works on a vehicle of this caliber they really have no real room to dis it. I have worked on few high end rigs and the majority of car people could not come close to enduring the hours and precision something like this takes. I once worked the same car every day of the week for 1-1/2 years and I was just one of 7 or 8 it took to put the project together.

Sure everyone is entitled to an opinion, just remember in the grand scheme of things none of our opinions really mean shit!! Just be nice an don't hate on rigs that are to nice. Alot of us on here make a living off of people trying to achieve greatness in some way or another.
