Does anyone know what this trans is out of? I got ot in a package deal with a flathead motor and the owner said it was from a Mercury. Any truth to this?
Sorry for the crappy picture, if other views are needed, I can get somemore tonight.
    Thanks

Looks like your basic '40-'48 Ford or Mercury transmission.

Any idea if there are numbers on the case or something to help narrow the models and years? I am planning to sell it so any more info would be helpful.
Big thanks to everyone that has helped so far.

Locate the top of the bellhousing, there is a flat pad there that will handily have the serial number of the car that trans was fitted to as new.

Look it up on Mac Van Pelt's site and you will find what it was fitted to.

it looks like my 40 Ford trans, but it could be 40-48 Ford or Merc.

    Mart.
