Buick experimented with air in 1958, Poise suspension was an air ride suspension system that utilized a pump in the engine bay connected to four ball sacks, one located on each corner of the car. Cadillac also had it on the '58 Eldorado Brougham. It was discontinued by GM for reliability issues, system couldn't react quick enough to different situations, was complicated for its' day; so many owners went back to conventional suspension and abandoned air altogether
Thanks for all the pics everybody. My 54 has a half done airbag setup on it and I have to finish it so this helps a bunch!
I got a few good ideas from this thread So I figured I should add to it a bit. THis assembly ended up going into a 64 caddy. I will be posting pix of the car later after the system is entirely finished.
some really nice set ups on here. i just got a compressor, tank, valves, and two small bags for free. all for mounting some tubes and tires.
Such clean work, very impressive. It's great to have the quality workmanship backup the quality stance.Looks killer!!
The inside of my trunk. Frame has a Gambino Notch kit and brackets, painted black. Looks the same as all the others.
fill the spare tire hole, make the pump and tank symmetrical and its perfect! great idea on the bridge cover!
I kept mine very, very simple. I was also broke as hell when I did this one. Even though it's way ugly it has been reliable as can be.
I built supports for an old tool box in the spare tire well. I'm trying to decide if I should paint it or leave it alone.
Mine is pieced together mostly used stuff off craigslist! the 2 link and bag cups up front are all fabricated by myself and a good buddy dirty ed on here.
Thread re-vive.. I was wondering if the compressor is mounted in the trunk area, can you hear it from the cabin when it kicks in? I know....if my engine was loud enough I wouldnt be asking that question..
Insane 1 Nice clean looking set ups you've built, please can you tell me if there is any advantage or disadvantage with the top links running in to the centre. Most set ups run them to the outer rails. Thanks Pete
