Model A's channeled to running boards.

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Dubbzilla, Feb 20, 2012.

  1. Inspired by the recent 32-34 truck channeled to running boards thread.

Lets see any model A's done the same way. Trucks, coupes, sedans, roadsters...whatever you got.

    Thanks,
    Steve W.

  2. You are talking about loosing the filler panel and just running the boards? or dropping the boards completely and channeling them the amount that is required to cover up the chassis?

    I only know of one other car and it's a 32 5w...

  4. Heres mine, I dropped the cab down until the belt line matched the bed rail. Had to do some creative filling at the front of the apron to fit around the cowl.
If I remember it was 6"

  5. I guess there'd be a few ways to go about it...but the end result I'm looking for is running boards right under the doors...with little to no filler panel.

  6. Yeah..that's what I'm talkin about. Very cool and creative. Love the new lines and flow

You're talkin' about an 8 inch channel. Have you ever sat in a car with an 8 inch channel?

Yessssss. One of my favorite looks.

This one is maybe a little over the top. But I know I have more somewhere.

  14. The apron is roughly that tall, and its lower edge hangs below the frame. To channel the body to the running boards, leaving the running boards in the original location, would require that deep of a channel.

  15. Came across this beauty a while back, and even got some info on it...owner/builder/location. But I can't remember any of it! haha

    Nice truck though.

It does run 30-31 front fenders, channeled 9". The lil coffin before it was cut up.

  19. Saw an "A" Roadster done that way and he moved the running boards tight under the frame and made everything else fit nicely... ton of work... but it paid off!

This is a quote as per the article mentioned.
"The article in street rodder quoted a 6" chop, no channel, 8" zee in front, 18"zee in the back. I can scan and send the article if needed.
I have seen Rick driving this around Orange, it is sooo bitchin'.
I have wanted one like this for quite some time (among others!).
I have all the pieces to put one together but I think I will cut the top off and run rpu. That way I am not copying it completely. "

It says there is NO channel, rather Z'ed front and rear. That I can understand, but an 8" channel is what I questioned.

  25. Nice!! Cool looking custom grille on that sedan too. Looks like the shell is peeked down the center-line.

That issue of Street Rodder with Ricks model A pickup was one of the first magazines I ever bought off of a newstand....I was like 10 years old. Ive been planing my version of it ever since. Mine will be a little crazier 331 hemi with 6-71 and a 4 speed, the only thing Ive been fighting with is the headlight placement...thinking Crafty B lights (mini E&Js) mounted as low as I can get em...any thoughts on how to make the headlights look right?
