Thanks Steve... I stopped by the Rt66 car show, but only stuck around for a few mins. Not much to see.

Haha... not corny at all. I feel the same way about your 39. I fell in love with the stance of your car and tried my ass off to mimic it, but I can't get the back end of it down enough with the parallel springs. I will just have to let them sag over time I guess. In hind sight I would have modified my original 36 wishbones and used a transverse spring, but I thought I was doing it the easy way.

Your '35 is coming along very nice as well. Feel free to steal the license plate idea... I stole it myself!

I kinda liked it sans hood myself, but it just didn't feel "complete". It was sure tough covering up the flathead after all the money and time I spent on it!

Looks incredible Dan. I love the picture with the boat in the background on the river.

Thanks again for the kind words.

The pulley is the same one that is used if you put a standard alternator on a Flathead. It is made by Offenhauser. I did have to trim the fan down to make it fit, and not hit the radiator.

  15. Truely breath-taking car mate, really inspiring.

Im a bit confussed with the engine/head/intake set up. Ive got a 8ba myself with original eddie meyer heads and a don hi-rise intake. Isnt your original intake to suit 32/48? Also you heads with the water ports in the center, i thought 8ba's had heads that had water ports in the front of the head? And well i know (guessing) by where your dizzy is its a 49-53 block?
Sorry im still learning about flattys and eddie meyer parts and realise ill probably get a flaming from someone. Oh well, im here to learn.

    Thanks for the complements.
Yes, it is indeed an 1951 8BA and it is possible to run the early heads and intake on these motors. The intake is a direct bolt on, but there are I think 4 bolt holes that are not used on the on the older intake. I have since put dummy bolts in them. I have not had any issues with it not sealing. The heads require you to plug the front water passage on both sides. I simply drilled it out on both the heads and block, tapped it, and inserted a steel pipe plug on both. No issues or leaks on this either. I simply liked the looks of the early style heads and intake, but also liked the versatility of the 8BA style distributor (Adapted SBC dist)... so to me it was the best of both.

    That is one sweet 36!

Mine has parallel leaves and they didn't seem to sag more than 1/4", so I wouldn't expect much more than that. I like the stance yours has now though.

Im tail dragging mine soon. My avatar is from removing the rear tires and lowering the floor jack down.
