Girl got herself her first classic. 1955 Olds

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by sparkydeluxe, Feb 14, 2012.

  1. Well my fiance has been after getting into an old car for almost 2 years now, and she's finally brought it home. I've found her a number of decent options, but the car had to be an early to mid 50's "round" car with a look and vibe that only she could explain. Helped her with the purchase process when she asked, but otherwise she took the wheel on this one.

1955 Olds Sedan. Original black Colorado car, all the way down to the plates. We're the third owner. Sat on a field for sometime which dried it out pretty bad, but otherwise extremely solid and complete, and outside of a quick lowering job in the back from the previous owner which gives it a bit of a rough ride, actually drives quite well! That old rocket V8 holds 80mph all day with room to spare. Drove it home to Steamboat Springs well it sits and waits for the summer thaw. Plans include lake pipes, whitewalls, improved stance, original caps, and some clean up.

I'm proud of her!! This really is a great car and worth the wait.

Congrats - Cool ride, in more ways than one with the snow. yep, rear lowering looks like some severe cutting or torching was done. best go through all of the mechanical with new fluids, brake shoes, electrical, drain gas tank, etc. before adding the fun parts to make sure it is safe for her to drive. even seat belts should be added, if none. have fun

  4. I am speechless. Way to go! If i lived closer I'd come and see it. Looks like a solid one and definitely worth saving. Sounds like good plans, too.

  5. 55 Old HT was the family car when I was a kid .... alot of weight but get it rolling and kick the passing gear in and ... whoooosh!

55 Olds is my favorite car to drive.

and a 98 is the best of all for cruising.

congrats to her for having good taste...in cars anyway!

  20. Thanks all! I'm certainly a lucky guy.

Looking forward to having the oppurtunity to walk her through and teach her the mechanics and bodywork aspects of the build, while she teaches me pinstriping and upholstery. Aside from being a full time tattoo artist she's just a Jill of all trades. Picks up quickly on anything she puts her mind to and continues to impress me on a daily basis. Kind of OT but this is a barber chair she just finished for her booth 100% by herself.

The car is in good hands

  21. That's a good starter! I think the car will look great when you get the stance figured out.
