The Old Iron Company will be hosting their annual Garage Tour February 18th 2012, Kick off will be at Jake's 513 South Grand Ave. 8am to 9am. Garages open untill 4pm.
I would love to do this tour, haven't been to Spencer in 25 years! I'm sure my son would want to come along too. It says 253 miles up there from here (that means leaving here at 4 am). If it's not snowing like a sob we'll try to be there.
I could use some help from you Iowegians. I have been looking for my dads OT 70 Olds F85, we last saw it in 77 in Spencer. This car wwas his factory Olds ride in the 70 season that set an NHRA record at Thunder Valley. Olds ralley Yellow, PM me if you may be able to help. And this garage tour looks fun, I have seen the pictures posted here in the past!
i'd love to but it looks like a 3 and a half hr drive for me and i have so much going on i better just stay home and work !
Looks like just Eric & I are coming up from Oskaloosa, my brother can't make it. We are leaving at 3:45 am!- I was looking through an old thread showing Dennis' garage, looks like that alone is worth the trip!!! I bought a pr. of 16" dirt track Firestones for my Halibrands from him many years ago. It will be great to see him again....Maps available at Jake's for the rest of the tour? Hope I can stay awake for it all!!!
just got home from this event... Wow... the shop of Dennis Slaymakers was fantastic. I have never seen so much cool stuff (intakes, machinery, memorabilia, cars, wheels, etc) in one place... Next door to his shop was the Lair race shop... very clean, well organized, lots of cool cars... thanx' for opening up your doors for us to traipse through, all of you!
Thanks Old Iron Co. for the tour, had a great time, lots of neat projects coming together.... I really liked the 60 Chevy sedan delivery project, keep after it!....& Dennis' place has so much cool stuff!!!!!!! talking to him again & his tour was definiately the highlight of the 500 mile round trip for us, and gave me a lot of new inspiration!... Thanks!
