I always have fun seeing what people did EARLY in their careers, before
    attaining stardom. :D Here's a 1957 JD movie with then-nobodies James
Franciscus and Frank Sutton BEFORE he became Sergeant Carter!
From all the teen exploitation movies in the '50s, an alien on a foreign
world would probably have concluded that Earth's younger generation :p
was DOOMING that distant blue planet viewed in their telescope!

Can you imagine today's parents going nuts over the girls climbing due to "lack of safety"?

Harold Lloyd Jenkins walked the line among Rockabilly, Country and Rock&Roll
and did it well. Born in Friars Point, Mississippi, here's a high-school pic.

Hey, not that many guys could be so lucky as to play onstage at their high
school prom with Mamie VanDoren! Pic thanks to RubberCityReview.

He held the record for the most number-one Country singles (55), until George
Strait broke it in 2006. Though he eschewed the politics of the Grand Ol' Opry,
he is a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame and the Rockabilly Hall of
Fame. Willy, George, Waylon, Hank and Johnny were NOT the only rebels in
    this musical genre, folks!

My personal Jenkins faves are "Mona Lisa," "Hello Darlin'," "Lonely Bue Boy,"
and my favorite of all: "It's Only Make Believe.";)

I have no idea, just wise-cracking. But since the car looked like it was rigged up for travel with tenting and a sun shade (ala Grapes of Wrath / Depression / dust bowl) my guess was they were on a long trip with everything they had, including their team. Or the horses could have been owned by a local farmer helping out travelers in a jam. I doubt we will never really know. Gary

this pic is of the shoppers world in highland indiana. that's rt 41 going over the erie lakawana tracks that used to run past my house. the tracks are gone. the water tower is gone. pretty soon the bridge will be gone. they are doing prelim work before they level it and take out the dogleg since the tracks underneath are long gone.
a tornado ripped the roof off the shoppers world years later. they replaced it but it didn't last past the the early 70's. it was a giant auto for a while. don't know what's in there now.

  16. Are you referring to the "Search Google with this image" application when you right click on an image, or have I missed something ??

Just as an example, using the above image

    Thanks,
These photos were just found, here's what the article says:

She remains one of the most iconic sex symbols of all time.
But newly released photos of blonde bombshell Marilyn Monroe show her in a softer, gentler light, before she blew up as one of the most famous movies stars of all time.
She appears in these photographs in a monogrammed polo, fresh faced at 24, and already looking at ease in front of the camera.

The photographs, taken by LIFE photographer Ed Clark, were shot in Los Angeles’ Griffith Park in August of 1950.

Sporting her signature bobbed flaxen locks, the model and actress was shot in a variety of poses. Mr Clark said he was able to photograph her at his leisure since she was relatively unknown at the time.

He told the magazine: ‘We’d go out to Griffith Park and she’d read poetry. I send several rolls to LIFE in New York, but they wired back, “Who the hell is Marilyn Monroe?”’

The editors weren’t entirely off base. Only four years before, the woman being photograph called herself Norma Jeane Dougherty.
The images were discovered as LIFE magazine underwent the daunting task of digitalizing each negative from every photo shoot.
It remains a mystery why the magazine didn’t publish these photos after Monroe skyrocked to fame.

  20. No, it's one of those dang hot rodders pulling "an old jalopy" that's been abandonded, you know, just sitting and rotting away. I bet he's gonna build it one of these days...

and if you had a chance with her...
    hmmm?
any red blooded american would and if not, something is wrong wit cha,

  23. But one fact remains. Not one of us knows what she was really like to be around, to spend time with from day to day dealing with life. We all want to believe that she would have been nice to be close to, and thankfully, it can stay that way forever. She didn't sully her image. Perhaps that's her greatest contribution after all.
