Hello everyone...I'm on here because of my interest in the history of Drag Racing. Especially the years of 1955 to 1965. My interest covers the Pa. , NJ , DE and NY areas. Some of my favorite drag strips include Vargo , Erie , Maple Grove , Atco, Flemington , Hatfield [ front stretch ] , Dover [ NY ] , York US 30 , Numidia , Cecil County , Pocono Drag Lodge and others. Have been collecting DVD's of old drag racing and photographs of old drag cars for about 2 years now.
Welcome aboard from the next state. Maryland that is, not the state of confusion................. See you at the Jalopy Showdown Drags?
Welcome from the West Coast of Florida. All of the drag strips you mentioned were great places and all of them have a lot of history. Have you checked out the Dover Drag Strip web site? Dino the old tack announcer started it a few years ago and it has something like 15,000 old photo's from Dover. I am a big fan of keeping the memories alive for all these old drag strips and speed shops many of which are long gone. I know the guys have a reunion every year for the Pocono Drag Lodge and Dover Drag Strip. All the guys from the Pittsburgh area are also very active with reunions for the old Pittsburgh International Dragway. Best of luck Jim Hill

WELCOME- Dont know much about the tracks you mentioned. If you are intrested in GEORGE RAYS WILDCAT DRAG STRIP. I was at his first and last race before he passed away. Until his death, I beleive it was the oldest dragstrip still ran by the original owner. His wife still has races (each and every Sunday- weather permitting) George was at the strip from 1961 till his death in 2009. Pm me for more info. Bob
