I have been to the Portland Swap Meet twice but it will be my first time with a stall of my own. Any suggestions on what to bring, other than what I have to sell? I have seen tents, bbqs and coolers. Any help would be great so I can be a little more prepared than depending on learning it the hard way and having a better/easier time next year.

    Thanks!

That about covers it. food, shelter, refreshments. I'd also bring some good walking shoes too of course, because you know you'll be sneaking out of your booth and checking out the rest of the swap.

Can't wait for the swap this year.

Is that your car in your avatar? Haven't seen it around. Looks pretty bitchin!

  3. Bring your HAMB shirts so we can find one another! Man I cant wait. Sure hope to get hooked up with some HAMBers this time. Ill be easy to find, over near the dumpsters with my hoodlum buddies! haha

Just be ready to sell in the pouring rain and wind. Shelter can help draw people in or keep them out, so plan for ways the strolling shopper can see what you have.

Bring all of the above: food, shelter, BBQ, etc. Are you going to be at the race track or at the EXPO center? Bring a ground cover. Don't come alone, Bring chairs, just like you are going camping. Have fun.

$200.00 in 1's, 5's, 10's and a couple of 20's, don't be shy on asking if they have something smaller if they have a big bill. Get a currency check pen to avoid counterfit bills (big problem at swap meets because of amount of cash exchanged). Non-greasey and low sodium snacks, lots of bottled water, hand cleaner and rags, comfortable chairs and a small table to use as work space. Plastic bags and boxes if you have a lot of small items (boxes free at grocery store, boxes that hold 4 gallons of milk real handy size). Shade/tarps to cover in case of rain and a cap and sunblock for you. Have a good time!!

and I hate to say it, but watch out for thieves.

  12. Bring all of the 1931 Dodge parts that you can dig up and then tell me what your space number is. Are you going to be at the top or down by the race track?

If you have a heater or barbeque have an ABC type fire ext. in plain sight or the fire marshall will come by and make you shut them off. I've been told they are going to strictly enforce it this year.

The car in my avatar is mine (usually make Beaches Weds nights, Billetproof in Chehalis, Rose City Roundup and sometimes the first Sunday cruise).

The show is April 13-15th. I have an Expo spot but it switched numbers so I will get it and post it.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions, I will work on the cover, food, seats and beverages!

Gotta get some HAMB swag to sport. Looking forward to meeting more people this year at various shows for sure.

I gotta sell all my extra stuff to get my 1950 Ford up and running by my wedding the first of July, but we will see. Don't need a huge profit, just some cash and to unload it, and hopefully someone can use the stuff to make something cool!

Oldcarfart did a great job of covering most all of the bases on this one. Since you are from Portland no one has to tell you to be prepared for any kind of weather and the weather is subject to change without notice.

I need to put in for Friday and Saturday off for it this year as my days off changed. Last year we went on Sunday and that was pretty much a waste of time at the track.

My newly assigned spot is 9153! Not too shabby. I might be selling a 1950 Ford Tudor project car, but we will see if another project pushes it out of the garage.

I'm afraid I may have gotten screwed on my spot at the racetrack! My buddies have all gotten their space assignments, and we put them in together to be side by side. I still haven't gotten mine, and no reply to my message left at their phone number. They have my payment, but I don't have anything yet.

I've called Sandy several times and she always returns the calls---check to see if you have the right No.----503 307 5420 I heard the other day there were spaces on the west end still available but they may be gone by now.

Bring tarp to cover your goods when your not there, besure to bring something to hold the tarp/tarps down. Have something (old wheels, brake drums, buckets of sand ) to hold your tent down. (a gust of wind came up, picked up 3 of our tents, all tied together, wadded them up and deposited them the next asile over, we suvered in the rain the whole week end..!) Have fun, its like Mecca for us car guys.

Be prepared for any type of weather; which could be really bad. But if it is nice you'll have a fun time.

Make a HAMB sign to hang in your stall.

Got a call back and she said the packet was sent out over a week ago, so if it doesn't arrive by the end of the week he'll send another one. Looks like I'm OK afterall.
