Hi, I'm currently a Mechanical engineering student residing in Terre Haute, IN and working toward a degree from Rose-Hulman. I was raised with my father always working on his 1966 Mustang Fastback (351C, T-10, 9" rear; a beautiful car) and enjoy continuing the Ford tradition. My current project is a 1953 Ford Victoria Crestline. It has a 239 V8 mated to a "3 on the tree" manual transmission and is bone-stock. Oddly enough it was originally titled in late 1952. I love these old cars because I get to see into the past when mechanical engineers ruled the world. I decided to get a 50s car for my first project because they generally have full frames (thus no unibody structure problems from rust) and they are mechanically very simple, so I can work on it myself. Previously I have only restored a couple of motorcycles. I'm hoping to get the car in good enough working order to use it as a daily driver, at least Spring through Fall. Currently I've replaced the vacuum advance and am stripping and refinishing the induction system (carb, intake, fuel pump). Any information on making a great '53 daily would be most appreciated.
Welcome from the circle city! if you're ever in indy shoot me a pm! I'd love to talk 52-54 fords with ya'!
Welcome aboard...Cool car you have there. My first car was a 53 Ford...sedan delivery, 239 with an o/drive 3 speed tranny. We had some good times back then when life was simpler.
I wanted to say welcome too ... I just bought mine this year and just love it ... Can't wait to get on the road ( without the trailer ) lol
