Thank You to those who replied concerning an alternate to the Autozone pump. Just to recap....I ordered Autozone # BWP-386HDA. It's an Aluminum Chevy, high output, late 6cyl. waterpump. Got an email saying it was out of stock and not coming in... ever. (That's when I posted my question on the HAMB). Then I checked my account and they charged me for it. I called them and they said OOPS we sent the E mail by mistake and we shipped your pump already. Any way.... you can still get one from Autozone. Have not tried it yet...looks OK tho.

I'm guessing that is going on a 194/230/250/292 you have?

actually, the 292 is a different pump. The impeller is larger, and there are 3 different versions of bypass hose connection, and 2 different heights on them.

But you can make the 194-250 water pump work on a 292 by taking a 250 water pump gasket and using it for a template and drill the extra hole in the front of the 292 block. Yes I have done it. No there were no problems. I hope I don't get flamed for this.

no flaming necessary. You are correct, but the pumps are still different, and that's all I was trying to say.
