Sad to say my great uncle Bob Peterson has passed away:( He has lost his fight with cancer on 1-28-12. Bob was 71 years old ! Bob started drag racing in the 60's to early 70's ! Bob raced at Minnesota Dragway and North Star . He raced his 409 cars to his big BUICKS ! He started racing again in his 50's all the way to this past summer. He had some of the coolest cars ! He was a member of a car club in White Bear lake Minnesota called the Impala's they were all about custom Impala's. He raced against Bill Schifsky, Jon Hagen, and Tommy Hoover in the 60's ! He was a judge at the World of wheels in St. Paul. He had some really nice early 60's corvettes! He sometimes let my Dad take them out for a drive when my Dad was younger! He was a great person and I really looked up to him ! I got my love of 409 cars and early buicks from him ! My Dad tells me great stories about him! Only be 14 Im really into kustoms and HOTRODS ! If anyone knew him I would love to hear your stories!

Sounds like he filled his life with a lot more living than most people. May he rest in peace.

Sorry to hear of your loss. I myself grew up without a father, never knew him, he died of a heart attack when I was 8 months old. He was a Ford fanatic for his 38 years. After he came out of the Canadian Navy after World War 2 he became a mechanic and finally worked for Ford. I have a great picture of him working at what I believe to be his first job surrounded by flatheads. I am now the proud owner of a 32 with a great flattie in it and I'm sure my father would be over the moon about the car. I guess the moral of the story I'm trying to get at is that you were blessed with the time you had with your Uncle. Cherish those memories and hold on tight to them for they are a true gift. May he rest in peace and may your family find comfort in each other as you all heal through this painful time.
