I am just curious for a future project 52 chevy 2D. Small block or Big block. I don't know if I am posting in the rite spot, as I am new to this. Thanks Jason.

Jason, welcome but it is proper protocol to do an intro in the intro section before asking any question. its a long time tradition on this board and since this board is about tradition.. post one before doing anything else...

maybe an all aluminum ZL1 427 from around 1969.. or you can go 302 out of a Z28 with a factory crossram.. the motor is not rare but the package as a group is.

  5. Any of Smokey's creations- 302 with hemi heads, 307 for the '55 Corvette, etc

Oh, and the '25 4 cyl truck engine with the Olds 3 port head :)

Also, add Z-11 409 engines to the list..

Also, Ford did not make the "Ardun". The Ardun heads were aftermarket
designed by Zora and his brother.....

  11. 261s are always good for rarity

  12. Z-L-1 427 In all my years I have never seen a real one

  13. You want rare GM ... try to find a 3.1 V6 with the original lower intake gasket still in place and not leaking :(:(.

Oh ... heh heh ... sorry bout that. Didn't realize I was typing out loud .

Wayne 12 port for sure - Or just a 292 Jimmy with a couple three jugs.

A rare Chevy motor like the Ford ARDUN would be the WAYNE 12-port.
Since the ARDUN Ford is a conversion on a factory block and so is the WAYNE.

All other things are just variations on stock production line stuff from the factory.

Cosworth Vega Twin Cam and the Corvair Monza Turbo.
Don't think I'd suggest either for your car, though!

  20. or a 3.4 or a 3.8....

or a 2.8 v6 with the original head gaskets.

  21. Yeah  but the one I got stuck doing (for my parents) is the 3.1 ... just venting ... feeling better now, thanks.:)

    A Chevy v8 in 1917...had no idea.

  23. The 427 "W" mystery race motor is very rare. ( I have seen one in a car and parts for three)
The 1918-1917 Chevy V8 is also rare.
You have to be specfic as to production or R&D engines.
R&D engines, the one off Smokey Yunick hot vapor engine in the Pontiac Fiero (still running)

    how about a early 90's LT5 out of a corvette ZR-1..

  26. mechanical F.I. 283's are uncommon.
So are 1956 dated 283's for early '57 production.
Also a very few aluminum head 283's built in 59-60.

Not super rare but a truely original 53-55 Corvette Tripple-Zenith'd 235 would be a sight to see.

  30. There are still a few of these out there- Speedy Bill has one :D
