    Yes sir its a genuine SC that even has some race history as it was a lettered race car running superstock during the summer of 69 at Dover dragway in NY, then the lettering was taken off and it was sold as a used car in the fall of 69. it was replaced by a new factory backed 70 Javelin that was I guess kind of a factory superstock car as the car was even a Body Calk delete from what I have heard regarding it.... so I guess the Javelin would be the true king of Ramblers...:D I would love to find that car.....

    Rambler guys help me out, I got a vac leak, it's starting hard, shifting rough, etc. I replaced the cracked vac line to the wipers, but still happening. I'm thinking it must be the vac line that runs to the trans, but honestly it's my first car that I've been wrenching myself and don't really know where to look for said line. Don't want to take it to a shop for something I can do myself, just don't know where to look. Probably right in front of my face.

    Also, was going to check my cowl for rust, couldn't see any around the heater, but am getting a wet floor, but need to take off the wiper arms to get a look and can't figure out how they come off.

    What year? IIRC this is a 65-66 with the 327. It won't have a vacuum line if it is. Pre 65 and post 66 do have a line, 65-66 models use a TV cable. The "kick-down" cable also controls internal pressure based on throttle position -- more throttle = more pressure. If the car has been run much with the cable disconnected or frozen the trans might be toast. 63-64 models use a vacuum modulator. Vacuum should come off the manifold on the driver's side rear. Modulator on trans is on the driver's side near the rear of the main case, beside the output shaft housing. There should be a wire going to the modulator as well -- those models have the electric kick-down solenoid inside the modulator. 67+ models have the solenoid inside the trans. This is one reason the pre 64 modulators are harder to find and a bit costly, and won't swap out with the later models. I think they will physically swap, but you wouldn't have a "passing gear" -- you'd have to manually shift down. I might be wrong though -- they may not fit (plunger or threads might be different).

    This is the '61 Classic I owned not too long ago. It's a rust free car from SW Colorado and had a 6 with a 3 on the tree and only 45K original miles....

    It's a 63, you think I should replace the modulator too, or that just replacing old cracked hoses might help?

    Try the hose first. It might have metal line between the modulator and intake with two short pieces on the ends, I don't recall. If that doesn't help, you may need to pull the valve body and thoroughly clean it. The shift valves can get varnish on them over the years and start sticking. If that's the only problem it's an easy fix. If you're reasonably sure the trans is in pretty good condition there are a couple other easy to do things while you have the pan off and valve body off that won't cost much to fix. About $120 in parts then just the time. Nothing major, seals and o-rings mostly. Trans stays in car.

    The Ferrambo is a nice toy ...
    Much more nice than swapping a SBC :p
    But with all the body modifications made, it look like a Volvo ...
    Anyway, it s an insane project, well done , not like all the ugly Rambler anybody want to crush :p
     
  13. Maybe not HAMB friendly, but look at the pedigree on the rear windows. That has to be worth at least a look see.:)

    And Falcons and Valiants.... only better! Okay, Ramblers are like real good beer (something like Sam Adams, St. Pauli Girl, or Shock Top...), an acquired taste, but once you get the taste for it there's nothing else quite like it! Once you get used to the cheaper more common stuff (Bud Light, etc. ... and Chevys and Fords and Chryslers) nothing else tastes right, but it's still "common".... :D

    I probably shouldn't have said "cheaper" though. Chevy IIs might be more common, but only the four doors and wagons are roughly on a par with their Rambler counterparts. The two doors (especially hard tops) are a LOT pricier than the equivalent model Rambler.

    Falcons are almost untouchable in price now too. I wanted a 63 hardtop falcon, but didn't want to give $2000 for a "fixer upper" (basketcase).

    That's why I said "especially hard tops". A two door POST Falcon won't cost near as much as that popular hardtop... or a four door. But you don't want one of those either... You can still find Americans and Rogues for reasonable prices. A Rambler hardtop in solid condition (but still needs restoring) can still be found in the $1500-$2500 range.

    Here's my 63 Rambler 880 Ambassador in the snow:

    The back door looks a different color. The rest of the car is a flater blue, that door is shiny with some metalicness to it. Looks like the car was resprayed at some point, and they must have added a rear door of a different car later.

    Thought this was a cool picture too, looks like it's going a lot faster than 25.

    My '61 Deluxe.... was going to be a cool build but ran out of money when the market first took a dump and sold it! Fully bagged and 60s style sb 350 and 700r4, nosed and rounded all the door corners ...wish i had it back now!

    Here's my 63 rambler classic I just picked up for cheap. Straight 6 with an auto. Supposedly only a 53k mile car.
