Too bad you didn't find a Merlin to transplant in it. That would be some real hot rodding. But you have already hit the mother Lode(star). Congrats.

Niiiiice! It'll be like steering from the upper deck of a London Double Decker. Airframe looks reasonably sound.

That's pretty cool what is the plan? I dig the gauges, I own a couple ww2 bomber pressure and speed ones. Those old war plans give off the same vibe a car from the forties give off. Like what were the people thinking or doing back then piloting the machine, but with war planes the history is even more interesting. good luck with it

  18. Cool. Tell me you didn't sit in that seat and make airplane noises.

This is what this thing looked like before Hurricane Ike tore it a new one. I think it would be awesome to make this thing a giant trike if i can figure out how to make it happen. Any of you know of any aircraft mechanics that might be able to help rivet the patch panels back in place when I get ready to do so? Volunteers?[IMG]

The wings, tail surfaces and engines came up missing several years ago. The fuselage is so beat up that it would be in the millions to make here fly again and you can buy one of these Lodestars ready to fly for several hundred thousand now. But I don't have that kind of money.

There are some aircraft mechanics out in Mexia Tx that do some really good work. idk if you wanna pay the price of aircraft service though...But when we need work done on our little bonanza we take it to them. Awesome build! cant wait to see it completed and going down the road

That is true. Just so yall know, my trailer is 29 ft long with a 6 ft tongue, and this thing stuck out 16ft behind my trailer! It got dark on us before we could get off of the island and we lost all the lights on the trailer, the trailer brakes, the license plate fell off the trailer and we were way over the length limit. We past a lot of state troopers along the way and they just stared at the plane and I assume they didn't notice all of the tickets that they were missing out on.

Damn shame Mother Nature took it's toll on the old bird. Looked like it was in great shape in the previous photo.

    Wow!! Subscribed to this one.
Can't wait even to see conceptual drawings. Very cool concept.
Best of luck on this one! You will get looks everywhere you go no matter how you build that thing.
